happy thoughts for my brother!!! (long) i added a picture

my brother opened up his very first deli on tuesday of this week - he's 26 years old and has been working in delis since he was like 16, so this was a huge deal for him. my dad owned a deli when we were younger - so it's kind of like a tradition.

well, at 2:20am today - some guy driving down the street swerved to hit another car and drove his car directly into my brother's deli! It desroyed the entire front of the store (brickwork, steel frame - everything). Thankfully, no one was hurt - not even the guy he hit as his car went into the store (!).

But now my brother's brand new deli - which has only been open for three days is a complete mess. I just got back from there and it looks like a tornado hit it - it's awful.

So I would appreciate if you have any extra happy thoughts - if you could send them his way.....im not big into praying, but if you are - and want to send one his way, i'd appreciate that also.

Oh that is terrible to hear! I hope your brother's spirits are still up. When will he be able to open for business again?? Also, where is the deli? Best wishes to him! He should take some photos and newspaper clippings and frame them for the wall! One day soon, the deli will be doing great and it will be a great story.

I am so sorry that your brother has to deal with that unfortunate accident! I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason. Every negative is always followed by a incredible positive. Although it looks bleak now - he will surpass this brought before him and prosper!! Happy thoughts are with him so he has the strength to get over this!! He can do it!

OMG Lori...That's terrible. Where is it? All of the LIW girls should go there and buy a sandwich from him!!! I'm sure insurance will cover everything and it'll be fixed in no time! You have my happy thoughts!!!

Sorry to hear about this. Hopefully it will be fixed and be better than ever and as soon as it opens let us know where it is. You know LIW girls we love a good recommendation!!

thank you for all of the kind words. the deli storefront is destroyed and they will start rebuilding it on monday. they estimate that will take about a month.
the inside of the store isn't too bad - once they clean up all of the glass....so that should be ok. he has to have the custom made(of course) meat case remade which will take 6-8 weeks!
but he should be able to re-open and have his second grand opening in one to two weeks, so it could be a lot worse!
and yes, it is pretty good for the store because now everyone will know where it is!!! and it'll be a pretty funny story to tell in a few years!
i'll let you all know when it re-opens....it's in rockville centre - and since i had dinner there the day it opened, i can tell you all that it's delicious! and i'm not just saying that because he's my brother!!!

Oh man, I am so sorry to hear this. Does he have insurance? If not, he can sue for property damage. I will send happy thoughts for sure! Keep us posted on how things work out for him.
