my brother opened up his very first deli on tuesday of this week - he's 26 years old and has been working in delis since he was like 16, so this was a huge deal for him. my dad owned a deli when we were younger - so it's kind of like a tradition.
well, at 2:20am today - some guy driving down the street swerved to hit another car and drove his car directly into my brother's deli! It desroyed the entire front of the store (brickwork, steel frame - everything). Thankfully, no one was hurt - not even the guy he hit as his car went into the store (!).
But now my brother's brand new deli - which has only been open for three days is a complete mess. I just got back from there and it looks like a tornado hit it - it's awful.
So I would appreciate if you have any extra happy thoughts - if you could send them his way.....im not big into praying, but if you are - and want to send one his way, i'd appreciate that also.

sorry to hear, about your borther's deli, can you make the pix bigger, I cannot see it. Where are you getting the pix from. I hope things work out for him and his deli is a success.

it is truly amazing that no one was hurt - not the drive and not even the guy he hit on his way into the sotre. thank god it happened at 2am because it's a really busy area!
and thank god my brother didn't go in early that morning!!!

WOW, that is some damage there.
Was this someone injured in the crash??
Did equipment get damaged
Did your brother have insurance?? what about the guy driving the car???
Is the deli closed now?? how long before he re-opens??

I guess we were posting together, I see that no one was injured. That is a good thing. Was the driver drunk, or did he lose control of his car??? What's his story??

The most important thing is that no one wa hurt. I hope it gets rebuilt really quick so you brother can get back to business. Hey let us know where it is and we can all stop buy when he re-opens.

it was a rainy night and he swerved to get out of the way of someone who was pulling out from the side of the road, and lsot control of the car- veered up onto the sidewalk and right into the store!

That is horrible. I'm so sorry for your brother. I hope everything works out for him. I'm glad no one was hurt.

Oh that's horrible This is the deli on Park Ave. right? I go to Sky Gym right there and am always at the bars and restaurants over there. I am DEFINITELY going to be going to your brother's deli as soon as it's open again! Let me know!!

the deli is in ROckville Centre - I will be sure and let you all knw when it re-opens so you can all go in and enjoy the sandwich named after FH and I....the L.T.!

Palebride- I'm a big believer that everything happens for a reason. My FFIL & FMIL own a deli for years that was passed on from FH grandfather. The entire family works there and if the deli were closed, everyone would be without pay for however long. If I'm ever in the Rockville area I'll be sure to stop by and pick up the L.T! What is it anyway?
