I went to see the Harbor Club and thought that they were great. Now I heard that they are going out of business and so is their affiliate John Anthony's. Has anybody heard anything about this?

Re: Harbor Club
Hi the corporation that owns John Anthony's, the Harbor Club and Coco's has filed for chapter 11. If you do a search (the button at the top of the screen. type in John Anthonys - Bankrupt???? or just part of that phrase and it should link you to an old chat about the places. They filed for Chapter 11 sometime in late August. FM me with questions

Re: Harbor Club
I have been told by two vendors that the person who was running both HC and JA's has left and opened his own restaurant/catering hall. I was booked at JA's and he did tell us he was in the process of doing that, but he made it seem like it would be a year or two before it happened. The vendors also told us that they're up for sale. Don't know how much truth there is to all of this - it's just what I was told.

Re: Harbor Club
Follow dolphin's instructions and you'll be able read all about it. I had booked them in back in August and then about a week later I found all that stuff out
It took me a while to figure out what I was going to do, but then I decided that for me, it was best that I get my deposit back from John Anthony's. I'm glad that I did. I, too, heard that they either sold or are about to sell...

Re: Harbor Club
This is terrible!! I called back to ask the woman I met with, Maureen - who was wonderful, and they said that she is no longer there!! I also heard that the chef left. I am NOT booking there. Thanks for all your help, I'm going to keep looking.

Re: Harbor Club
I found out that Maureen was gone when I was at the Harbor Club last week going over my menu. Maureen was awesome
I met with Susan, she explained that the bankcrupcy and Maureen had nothing to do with each other. She said that the Harbor club is here to stay. Susan was very capable in guiding me,even offering to tie ribbons on my napkins. I felt BETTER when I left.
Just the other day, someone told me that the chef had left. Now I am worred again Susan never mentioned this! I called and the girl that answered the phone said the chef has been here for years. Has anyone had a wedding there recenty. Give reviews.
Anyway, I am meeting Susan this week to drop off my favors and will CERTAINLY question her on this.
I'll let you know girls....

Re: Harbor Club
Went to the harbor club on Thursday. Susan said she has been getting calls about the chef for a couple of days, and said she feels terrible fr the brides because the rumors are untrue. But I did get to meet Chef Rob who told me that he has been here for years. (What a hunk!) HAH At this point, it is silly to worry, what will be will be. But you can bet that I will post reviews ASAP either way.

Re: Harbor Club
Hi all! Good luck with the Harbor Club situation. It would really be a shame if they went out of business and it is really a shame that Maureen left.
We got married there on July 4 and it was amazing! The staff was absolutely wonderful and even took care of one of my other vendors who was being a big problem. My MOH and her parents loved the place so much that she wants to have her reception there (first she has to meet her future husband). I cannot say enough how wonderful they were and how well they took care of our guests.
I don't know about the whole bankruptcy/sale thing and how it will affect the hall and it's services. Good luck girls!

Re: Harbor Club
By the way, if you are looking for a place on the water, try Chateau la mer in Lindenhurts. I am booked there. The food is delicious, the view of the water is beautiful, and the owners and staff are extremely nice. And they are no where near bankrupt, they actually have had the whole place renovated recently. The bride and groom also are brought into the dock on a Yacht as your grand entrance!!!!!!!! Its awesome!

Re: Harbor Club
Sorry it took so long to post my reviews. Honeymooned in the Cayman Islands..FANTASTIC Just settled in.
MY WEDDING WAS THE BEST IT COULD BE.
I mean from beginning to end...it was perfect. My bridal attendant was with me the hole time, Scott the Maitre D, was great. Even Sue, the Banq. Manager popped her head in to make sure everthing was OK. Food & Service...well let's just say when I spoke to my Mom,she said the phone calls wouldn't stop. Everybody was raving about how great my wedding was. I can't believe I'm still smiling.
Girls, now that it's over and done, one point I need to say. Please, Please think of what you post!! I found most to be untrue. Do you know what gossip does to us brides? I was an emotional wreck....unneccesarily.
I want to THANK the Harbor Club & staff for making my day and making my dream come true. I would definetly recommend them to anyone .. and girls .. this is based on fact.
