i just started planning and i also went back to school so can anyone tell me what the important things are to get out of the way..we have the hall but i've lost the time to look for anything else and i keep thinking we have time because its over 16 months away but what should i worry about the most..is there anything that might book up that i can lose..or do i have a few months to get back into the groove of it?

Try to knock out your band/DJ, photographer/videographer, your officiant and start getting ideas of what kind of dress style you like. In your spare time read bridal magazines, they really do help to point you in the right direction.

PErsonally I think you can take a few months off! The next thing I would do is photographer. We are planning our wedding in less than 11 months time! The only thing we had issues with was the photographer (2 of the 5 we were interested in were booked already) but that was in October so less than 9 months before the wedding.

I knew what DJ I had to have so I booked that first. Everything else I waited until less than a year before.

you might want to book the hall too, they tend to go fast.

If you are considering a band I would try to get that done. I was shocked at how far in advance they book, almost same as recption hall. I'm not sure if DJ's are the same way.

thank you all..i'm thinking the dj is important because i'm so picky but none of you said anything about the florists so i guess i'm good with that right>

yeah - florists can do more then one wedding a day so I definitly wouldnt stress about that yet... im a year away and havent even started looking for that.. I just try to gather a folder of pictures I like .. just to get an idea.. so when you do start looking.. you kind of have somewhere to start from.. did that make scense?

at 14months out I had Hall Photo Video DJ Dress (only cause I fell in love with it)
The hall, video and photos are the most expensive things my list so I wanted them out of the way early to better budget the rest of my wedding.

i of course was not thinking good ones go first but yeah maybe i'll get that out of the way..i have an idea about flowers but i'm not too sure yet..

I just also wanted to add.. maybe this isnt true for everyone.. but I have noticed booking and picking things far in advance sometimes saves you money... but it also gives you alot of time to second guess yourself or change your mind.. I know when we first got engaged and I was kind of planning .. but not really since I had two years to go.. I have changed my mind on a few different things!!
