HARRISON HOUSE-- name change!

So I'm kinda freaking out...as usual but I think this is definitely warranted!
So I get a call yesterday to inform me that my hall-- the Harrison House-- was just bought over by another company and it will now be called the Glen Cove Mansion.

So needless to say I'm freaking out because I signed the contract, put down my $3500 deposit and everything. My FI and I LOVE the place, but we booked it on the HH reputation, and not this new no-named place. My BM reassured me that nothing's changing-- the chef's staying the same, there won't be any renovations and there's not going to be a change in staff, but I'm still not so sure. We signed our contract under the Harrison House and the BM said that that is still ok, that we don't need to do anything differently, that it's just the name BUT STILL!!!! My mom just said 'we'll go back and talk to him face to face and bring up any questions/concerns we have.'

The only positive thing is that my BM called and left me a voicemail but then called me back so he could talk to me in person (without me calling him).

I'm just in such shock-- I mean I was literally showing one of my co-workers their website on Thursday and then yesterday the site was down and then I got a call from my BM to tell me all this stuff.

So I figured I'd let you ladies know about the change if you didn't already and as usual wondering your advice/opinions about this.

eeks i feel ur pain i would totally be stressed over that too.....although its not the BM's fault its kinda unprofessional....but im sure ur not the only bride affected....good luck!! i would def try to renegotiate

i would def go down there and talk with them about it. make sure that nothing will be changed and that everything that you planned for is what you will be getting. also make sure they wont' be doing any remodeling becuase that sometimes happens with new owners and you wouldnt want what you feel in love in to change unexpectdly.. i'd also make them sign a new contract with this name on it so u don't get screwed.. keep calm, talk it out.. and good luck

I am in the same boat! I got the call on Friday night. I'm not sure what to do now. My FH is sending them an email. I'm very concerned about it but FH says not to worry.

I'm sure everything will be fine. Harrison House is a very classy place. The fact that the staff called everyone says a lot. As long as everything is staying the same.. like they told you... I'm sure you don't have anything to worry about. That is a good idea that you are going there just to make sure everything is A OK. That is the right thing to do. I would just do that periodically throughout your planning just to make sure it all looks the same, same people.. etc.

Good luck with it! My friend is getting married there in November.. so I just let her know.

i am freaking out too.. but i am sure it will be fine. the harrison house is beautiful... but i have confidence that even though the name is changing that the reputation still stands.. i am getting married there 11/06.. i am going to call tomorrow to get the real story.

OMG, I would be freaking out, fo in person to ensure everythign will stay the same and they will honor everything in your contract.

oh i would be freaking out too...but dont stress too much until you sit and talk with them, make sure you do that ASAP, itll all work out, maybe tell them you want a tasting in like 2 months?

FH went up there today to talk to them. He called me after he meet with them and he told me not to worry. They promised that things would stay the same and our contract was set and that they could not do any 'downgrades' to our menu. They reassured him that the new owner was invested in keeping their good reputation.
