I think I am using the correct term... You take a stamp, with ink,,,then when it's wet, sprinkle embossing glitter, shakle it off, and you are left with the design in glitter...
Is it hard to do? Does it work on vellum paper??

Re: Has any one embossed before???
I've done it! It came out pretty well! It works best on cover paper. Vellum wouldn't work . . . you have to use a heat gun.
**going to get a picture . . . BRB!**

Re: Has any one embossed before???
I LOVE embossing!!
You can emboss 2 ways...Wet or Dry.
Wet is the one that is shown, where you use a stamp and stamp ink on paper, then cover it with embossing powder, shake off the excess then use a heat gun to heat the powder and make it look smooth.
Dry embossing is where you use a light box, place your brass stencil down, then your paper over, take a special pen, called a stylus, and rub IN the design. then you turn over your paper and the design is now raised on you paper.
Hope that helps!!

Re: Has any one embossed before???
Actually . . .you have to buy a heat gun. You can buy one at any craft store. Walmart probably has them too! I bought my off of EBAY for $10.00 brand new!
I just ordered a rubber stamp of our names and plan to use that instead of the example that I posted.
This is the image that I will use:

Re: Has any one embossed before???
I got our custom made stamp from Office depot for about 60 bucks. The gun came from michaels and I think I got it for about 12 bucks.

Re: Has any one embossed before???
What if I embossed with the powder on the vellum and let it air dry....Why do you need the heat gun????

Re: Has any one embossed before???
the embossing powder needs to be heated so it melts and turns the color. The embossing powder itself is a VERY pale color compared to what it will look like after its heated, melted then cooled!

Re: Has any one embossed before???
Right...vellum will melt with the heat.
Tell me what you are trying to do and maybe I can help you. Instead of embossing, you could just stamp on the vellum.

Re: Has any one embossed before???
I am getting ready to start making my e-party infivations and going to print on the invitation card stock (which is quite pretty- it's ecru with small gold roses and hearst through out the paper, and a gold boarder. I want to print on the card, then have the vellum overlay and ribbon,,,I feel the vellum is too plain, so I wanted to add this buttefly stamp to the font, but thought gold would be pretty.
I was going to draw a heart on the front and accent with rheinstones but I herd it does not last in the mail.
IDEAS??????

Re: Has any one embossed before???
I would just buy a GOLD colored stamp pad and stamp the vellum with the butterfly stamp. It will look beautiful! No need for embossing!

Re: Has any one embossed before???
it will be beautiful!! Just remember to let the ink dry on the vellum. Vellum takes longer to dry than regular paper!!
Anything else...FM me!!
