Re: has anyone...
I think i'm ganna register exactly one year prior to the wedding. 8/07. I've never done this before, so i'm not sure whats appropriate.

Re: has anyone...
Hi 08 girls....I am getting married 11/07 and just started registering. Fortunoff said that not to register for bedding, lines, stuff like that b/c they change & get discontinued season to season. If you start a yr before or alittle later you should be fine with china, silverware, everyday dishes ect.
I only did my china so far....I cannot wait to go back and register for the fun stuff.

Re: has anyone...
When I started my registry at Macy's they told me the same thing about holding out for bed and bath because they change every season but most small appliances and fine china are not discontinued that quickly, plus you can update your registry as time goes on as you receive items. We decided to start a registry now because when we get married it'll be the first time we'll be living on our own so we have a lot to get and need some extra opportunities to get things that we'll need. We'll be sacraficing getting anything good for Christmas and Birthdays for the next two years, but at least it'll be less to buy later and we'll definitely update the registry as we get things and start adding items that are more appropriate to get later as we get closer to the wedding.

We registered for pots and pans, china, kitchen utensils and kitchen gadgets... One thing got discontinued on us already - it was a handheld mixer so I'm not too concerned, they're a dime a dozen! It's never too early to register for little things like that. Plus, it's so much fun!!!!

Re: has anyone...
That is one of my reasons for not registering now. I won't be registering until probably 6-8 months prior to my wedding. That way maybe I'll get some registry stuff for Christmas next year!

Re: has anyone...
i have had my china and crystal picked out since like 2 days after i got engaged ( in december) - i just registered the other day. . .
i already have all my bedding and stuff SO i didnt have to register for that - i will keep an eye on it in case it gets discontinued -if it does. . . i am pretty much in love with everything so my family will just buy up whatever is left - thats what we did for my sister
i know i will get registry gifts for my next two birthdays and christmas(es?) so i wanted to register now! that way i can be sure I get everything on my list!!

We're probably not going to register until at least a year before cause I don't want to deal with the hassel of picking out new stuff if my original picks get discontinued.

Like some already said, i think we'll start registering around the 1 yr mark. I would Love to do it now but it makes more sense to wait

Re: has anyone...
I havent decided either. I'm not sure what I want to do. Being that its 08.. so much can change by then. Unless I just register for the things I know I wont change my mind about.
