I didn't plan on going however I had to go get a final fitting for my maid of honor dress for my sisters wedding that's coming up and the one dress I have fallen in love with online was hanging all by itself so I HAD to try it on and I fell in love but it was the only one because I want to go and make a day out off it with my mom ..... I do have to say I was so happy I had never tried one on all of the times I had been in a bridal shop. The feeling was rather indescribable : )

My only advice when dress shopping is to NEVER go to Paradise Bridal in Patchogue. They were an absolute nightmare to work with. My dress only came in 3 weeks before my wedding and that was because I basically harassed them.

Awww Nicole, that is awesome!! That's why I want to go so bad...

I'll probably do a stock place like David's Bridal so there's no pressure... I feel like the smaller salons really push you.. at least from my experience as a bridesmaid

Thanks for the heads up for Paradise Bridal!

I'm bringing mom, MOH and possibly FMIL.. that's it.. I may not even bring FMIL until I am really looking to purchase... I'm undecided.

MOH said I'm not crazy (hence why she is my MOH lol) and she is up for anything

Thanks Kathleen - my experience was at Angel's bridal in east islip. I have a long history of bridesmaid dress buying from them and my cousin, sister and friend all bought their wedding gowns from them. They are super nice and not pushy at all in my experiences .... Good luck when you go and share how t went

I'm afraid of this too.... there are a lot of dresses that I liked online that are similar in style but I'm afraid of none of them looking the way I imagine they do.

just so you don't feel nuts- i purchased my dress 25 months prior to my wedding!!!!! :) if theres something you love, be prepared to buy it so the designer has to produce the dress. i did this with mine. i bought my dress in nov 2012. the dress was a year old already so my deposit guarantees me the dress will be produced! :) good luck!!!!!!

and you do end up buying something totally different. i have big boobs and curvy so I was all about the mermaid to show off my figure i've worked hard for....i wound up purchasing Lazaro 3152- a huge ball gown! lol so be open!!!

I plan on starting to shop around at the end of August/beginning of September... I feel like the dress shopping is one of the most exciting parts and I don't want to rush it! PLus I change my mind every other day LOL I already changed my BM dress colors so I'm afraid I'll love something now and not like it 6 months from now. But it doesn't hurt to start looking now =)

That's a good idea especially if you tend to change your mind a lot lol

I made an appointment at David's Bridal for this Thursday to start seeing what I like and what I don't like and what not.. super excited!! Mom, FMIL and MOH are coming... nobody else, I don't need a million opinions... those 3 voices are loud enough hahha

I got my dress from paradise bridal and I had no problems at all.

I may 'accidentally' shop tomorrow...I'm going with my brother to try on my bridesmaids dress for my BFFs wedding and I know I'll just HAVE TO look at dresses!
