I am having mine there and I have a question. I absolutely LOVE it and don't doubt my decision at all, however the only thing that makes me nervous is the bathroom situation in the mansion.
If you've been to an event there could you tell me if anyone experienced problems with there being only 3 toilets? thanks!

I have been to a wedding at the Bourne Mansion. Yes, it was a little annoying only having three toilets, but let's face it...a toilet does not make or break a reception...
I think the Bourne Mansion is beautiful, and I wouldn't even give the bathroom situation a second thought. Some things are just beyond our control.

Remember that there is a bathroom in the bridal suite that you may want to remind your bridal party, close friends and immediate families about. Maybe that will help elevate some of the wait????
How many guest are you having?

Great idea - definitely remind your BP and close family to utilize that bathroom. My sister got married there 2 years ago and yes there was always a wait for the bathroom. Like another poster said yes it was annoying but it does not ruin the reception by any means. Bourne Mansion is a beautiful place - food was delicious! You will have a lovely wedding there!

I'm also getting married there. When I went to look at it the bride that day had made both bathrooms by the entrance ladies rooms and had the men go to the bathroom in the back. I think that's what I'm going to do too.

Re: has anyone been to a wedding at Bourne Mansion?
My parents went to a wedding there last summer and mentioned the bathrooms.
They loved the cocktail hour food but said the main course wasnt that great.
It COULD have been because the brides parents, on a whim, extended the CH by a half hour because it was nice out and the kitchen didn't account for that. They said the food wasnt that hot and was kinda dry. Something to think about if you think you might want to extend it, do it beforehand

We don't plan on changing the length of our reception and it's set to end at 11pm since all of our guests are from out of town. Plus we wanted to save $ all around by cutting it a little short. Thanks for the info! I'll that the food is wonderful the night of my wedding and that the best cook is on staff!

Awh thanks Toots! Where did you end up booking? I'm sure your wedding will be fabulous no matter what! I'm really relieved that they are adding bathrooms.. it was a big concern for me. I could just hear my family biotching about it after the wedding.

Hay date twin. I am getting married at Timberpoint (also Lessings) just down the road on the same day as you.
I understand that they cook all the Bourne food at Timber and then ship it over to Bourne so let's hope for their sake that they have the best cook on that night or they will have to deal with the both of us LIW girls!!!!!
P.S. Feel free to crash my wedding after yours cos we're going a little later than your !!! Yeah right - that's the last thing you want to do on your wedding night is go to another wedding!

Re: has anyone been to a wedding at Bourne Mansion?
lol Thanks for the invite!! I didn't realize they make the food off-site! My Aunt was at a wedding at Sayeville Country Club over the weekend (I believe Lessings caters there too) and she said the food was really good. She had the Blackened Mahi Mahi as her main course. I was planning to have that as our fish dish. When are you going for your tasting? Ours is March 31st.

Re: has anyone been to a wedding at Bourne Mansion?
I don't think the mansion has ovens or if it does they don't have enough. But, every one I know that's ever been to a wedding there raves about the food SO don't fret. I think the comment above was an anomaly and probably had to do with their extending the cocktail hour too long, like she said. By the way, you also get bottled beer thrown in for FREE because they don't have beer taps either so sometimes the fact that its an old mansion actually works in your favor (other than the sheer beauty of the place).
I have not scheduled a tasting. Hum, I have not even thought that far in advance but I will note your Mahi Mahi recommendation. Thanks date and vendor twin!!!! Now, if you tell me that you're going to St. Marteen for your honeymoon, I will be convinced that we were twins separated at birth!!!
P.S. I cannot wait to tell my mom about the bathroom situation but she'll claim it was all her idea and they should have listened to her sooner!!!

Re: has anyone been to a wedding at Bourne Mansion?
FH and I had to schedule the tasting early because the rest of our year is gonna be crazy. My sister is getting married in May and then FH and I are buying a house and moving to PA in August. Plus FH has grad school and is CFA exam to take in June. A LOT on our plates this year! We're not going to St. Marteen... we don't know where we're going yet. We're meeting with a travel agent on Thursday. My ex roommate has a timeshare in St. Marteen and loves it there! You'll have a great time!! And our time of the year is the best for weather, as far as I'm concerned!!

Re: has anyone been to a wedding at Bourne Mansion?
We met with Ben last week at Bourne and if I understood him correctly he said they're adding 2 more bathrooms. We did see boxes with new bathroom equipment next to the stairs you use to go up to the bridal suite. We're really close to booking there (just trying to decide on a date), so I'll be sure to clarify the next time I speak with him.
