Has anyone been to the Ft. lauderdale area?

I'm going in June to visit FH's family. We're gonna be there 3 days. I know it's a hot vacation spot, so I wanted to know what you think I should check out? We're staying at the Crowne Plaza which is right across from the Sawgrass mall (is that what it's called? the big one that's over 1 mi long). And we'd also like to do some fun stuff while we're there..any suggestions?

Also, we're going to drive to Miami to visit other,s have you done this drive is it far? What's there to do in Miami?

And we're driving from Ft. Lauderdale to Disney world. Someone said it's 4 hours, some said 6. Anyone done this? Is it bad?

THREE HOURS? I thought it was more like 45 minutes!? Maybe we won't visit people in Miami after all.

*phew* I was scared. yeah we're driving to orlando, which is near tampa. YAY. in 2 months I'll be at Disney World!

We've driven from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami about 10 times. It's always been 45 minutes to 1 hour

Ft Lauderdale to Orlando is about 4 hours.

In Miami they have a place called Bayside. It compares (but is nicer IMO) to South Street Seaport. They have bands playing and even have gondola rides. It's very pretty at night too.

I hope I survive the drive to orlando. When I drive to Tanger I get frustrated at exit 52 and start whining 'When will we get there!'' haha. we were gonna fly but since we'll have a rental car anyway and going to the airport is all BS, we decided to drive. I'll make FH drive..hehe

If you drive to Miami during non-rush hour times it can even be 30 mins. I love I-95, speed limit is like 65 mph.

There's also another mall between Ft Lauderdale and Miami called Adventura Mall. It's right off I-95, you'll see signs for it. It is a huge mall.
