We are planning the HM and wanted to find out more info on Crete, Mykonos and Santorini. We are going in August and I wasnt sure if this was a good time to go.

We went to Athens, Rhodes, Crete and Santorini on our HM. We didn't go to Mykonos b/c it's more of a party island. We wanted a more relaxing HM. Greece was absolutely wonderful. We went at the end of September, and the weather was great. It will probably be hot and crowded in August (the high season is June - mid/late September).
We loved Santorini. We stayed in Oia, which is well known for its beautiful sunsets. We stayed at the Oia Mare Villas, which was beautiful. The Katikies is another well-known hotel in Oia that's perfect for honeymooners.
Greece is gorgeous. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time.

Fh's family is from Greece. They are from teh island of Naxos which is absolutley gorgeous! And i's not full of tourists like Athens and all of the other usual islands that people visit.

Definitely a good time, there are a lot of tourist but there is no place better than the greek isles.

Santorini is GORGEOUS. It's pretty small too, but in a nice way, that by your second or third day there you'll recognize people on the streets and have shortcuts to get places. I went with a friend a few years ago, and we took a glass-bottomed boat out to the volcano, which you can walk up and around, and it was awesome but really really hot, and that was in April (a lot of heat radiates up through the ground). I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the boat company, but they advertise all over. The boat also goes to these natural hot springs you get to jump off the boat and swim around in, which is really nice.
Mykonos, as someone said above, is mainly a party town. We didn't get to go to the beaches there because the weather was awful (again, this was April) but if you and your FH want some crazy nights with lots of Ouzo to blow off some steam after the wedding, Mykonos is the place.

I went to Crete, Santorini and Mykonos a few years ago. All of the islands are great. You will have a wonderful time. August is a perfect time to go. You will have great weather. It can get VERY hot. Especially in Crete. Be generous when applying sunscreen.
Santorini has some great wineries where you can take a tour and sample the wine. We loved that . There was a great tour in Santorini offered my Kamari Tours. It was called 'Santorini in a Day' and I was great. I really recommend it. It included some sailing, a swim to the hot sulphur springs, lunch on an island, a visit to ancient ruins and the day ended with a beautiful sunset on the island of OIA - truly a must
Mykonos is the party island, but I don't think that you should miss just because of that. It's a beautiful place.

I went to Mykonos, Ios, Santorini and Kefalonia (my family is from Kef. - its in the Ionian Island chain - North west of the cyclades). Mykonos did have crazy clubs but it was also gorgeous - I would HIGHLY RECCOMMEND the Pestasos Beach hotel if you go there. Also the travel agent I used is Stavros at Anemos Tours. He is great! He's located in Astoria but we did everything over the phone.

santorini, rhodes, mykonos ....and athens too
I LOVED the beauty of santorini-it is like no place I have ever seen before...
rhodes-we went to the beach and shopped-fariliki beach-we had a great time-fun shopping-great restaurants-
mykonos-more of a party island atmosphere i was jet lagged and slept on the beach...we shopped , ate outside-drank a little...
