Has anyone been to Vermont?

FH and I are planning a long weekend to Vermont this summer.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for where to go in Vermont and where to stay. I would even love some suggestions on where to start my research.

Thanks a bunch girls!

Ive been there but I cant be too helpful with suggesting places to stay/things to do. We stayed in a really nice bed & breakfast but I cant remember the name of it. Once we got there, we were bored out of minds!

Re: Has anyone been to Vermont?

I have family there and have been a few times. The live on the west side of the state, some in Brandon and some in Burlington.

I think it's Rte. 7 that has antique stores along it. Ben & Jerry's offers tours and the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory is there.

Burlington is a college town and there are some various places along the way that have cute shops, but it's not a real jumping place. I think the entire population of the state is less than half a million - just a fraction of NYC. Lots of farmland, which I didn't expect.

Don't expect lots of cute, trendy restaurants and such, but if you want to relax and enjoy nature, hiking, etc. it's got some good points.

Look into Queechee Gorge and there's a cute town near there - might be Woodstock VT - nice inn's and shops there (I'd recommend that as a destination, though it's about 1.5 hours or more from Vt. Teddy Bear and Ben & Jerry's - it's along Rte. 4, as is Killington ski area. There's one of those mountain slide runs in the summer at Killington (or one of the neighboring ski areas)

Queechee is only about 1.5 hours from the Boston area - you might want to consider a night in Woodstock/Queechee and then head to Portsmouth, NH for another.
