Has anyone changed the date of their wedding AFTER it was booked?
We are considering moving up our wedding but we already booked the RH, Church, DJ and Video. I was wondering if anyone did this and how it worked out for them? We want everything to stay the same, just come sooner!

We did!
We originally were booked for 10/21/06. We changed it to 9/16/06.
We had our hall and DJ booked.
The were both understanding, but I know that some vendors can charge a fee, or might not be available for your new day.

yes, I lost 1,000 but I also switched RHs. If you stay with the same one but go sooner Im sure theyll help you out :)

Yes, we changed the date from 7/30/06 to 5/28/06. We already had the hall and the DJ booked. The DJ gave us a bit of a hard time, but the hall was fine about it.

YES. Originally we had July 22 but the date was full before we got back to actually 'book' it...then on to July 15th....but we had too many people so we needed a bigger room....and here we are on July 9th....we had to switch a lot of dates with vendors and it was annoying, but worth it.

My wedding is booked for 11.11.07 (I like the date but it's just so LOOOOONG from now!) We just kind of want to be married already so we can move on to bigger and better things, not sure what that is yet b/c what's better than your wedding?! LOL...but we are thinking of moving it to next spring or even this fall (yikes!). I haven't even looked at dresses or anything yet. Do you think changing it to this fall is too soon?

We switched it from 7/9 to 7/16 but we only had the hall and church booked.

not at all...had i realized how agonizing dragging this out would be, i would've opted for a winter wedding and planned ours in 6-8 months to avoid the procrastination crew i am marrying into.

We did...
We originally booked July 15, 2006 because I was in the process of getting laid off and we didn't know where would be financially. Luckily I got a job right away and my DH brought up the idea of moving the date up.
The hall was booked (Jericho Terrace), church, photographer/videographer, DJ, florist...etc. Luckily all the vendors had the date opened in which we wanted so it worked out and Jericho Terrace was nice enough to leave the price per plate the same we would have paid if we were to get married this year.

I originally booked for 11/30 - had to move it up to 11/23. I only had the hall booked, so it wasn't an issue at all.

When you guys changed the date, how did you approach the hall? What did you say to them to try to keep the same price you had to begin with? That's something I have to do or my dad is going to kill me!

We had to postpone our wedding from June 25, 2006 to November 5, 2006 because FH was being sent to Iraq and wouldn't be home in time for the wedding. At the time, we only had RH & photography, but we had it written in our contracts that if he was being sent away on deployment, we can postpone to a later date. Everything worked out fine. FH should be home sometime mid July.

I changed mine. Mine was originally October 22nd and I already had my photographer and dj booked at that point. I just called everyone to make sure the date I was changing to was available and made the changes.
Edited to add that I had my hall booked too.

I changed my from Good Friday- April 07 to May 07.
I had a high min and I told them that I would go for the higer rate if they lower my min and they did.
My rate was about $7 more....

I just changed mine from Dec 1 to the 8th and we only had the hall and church booked. they didn't give us any problems.

I didn't do it but I know people who have and I don't think the hall cares to much as long as you give them enough time!

well for us, it was a matter of really wanting to get married outside with the sun still out! I called the night after I had been there to drop of deposit #2 and said 'after seeing how beautiful everything is there for an outside ceremony, we really want to move up our date to be able to have the outdoor ceremony' so he rolled off some dates and we picked again. it turned out we're getting married 3 days before our dating anniversary which is kind of cool.
we did pay more for the earlier month though. (just a little

This is the date I wanted....=) But we decided we wanted a May wedding....
