Has anyone changed their passport to their married name?

Has anyone changed their passport to their married name?

From what I'm reading on the website I think I have to apply for a whole new passport and mail in the old one with my original copy of my marriage certificate.

Can I do this in person? I don't really want to let go of it. Plus, it looks like it's the same fee as applying for a new one.

Has anyone done this yet?

when I got my passport I asked.

I suggest you get another copy of MC.

I got to post office that has PP window...

YOu submit with paperwork and they send out.

If you got your passport within the past year, you don't have to pay. Otherwise, it's the same as applying for a brand new passport or renewing an old one. Remember how when you got your passport, you had to send in your original birth certificate? I wouldn't really worry about parting with the Marriage Certificate or passport for a while - they do send it back (just like when you renew or apply for the first time).

Thank you. I do remember that now that you mentioned it. I will go ahead and apply for a new one but I think I'll wait until everything that we need the Marriage Certificate to update is updated. Thank you.

When I applied for my passport last year (in April) I was told that as long as I changed my name within a year, I wouldn't have to get a new one, just submit a new picture. They never told me that I had to mail in the marriage certificate, though I guess that makes sense. I only applied for one because at that point we were up in the air if we were going to do an island HM right after the wedding and postpone Greece for a few years, but now that we're going to go to Greece in 2010 I didn't really need to get my passport so early, so I might have screwed myself if my certificate is delayed for any reason.
