My mom is still pretty young.. 43 and lookin good for her age. Well all the MOB dresses we have gone and looked at are ' old lady grandma dresses' according to her. I dont really want her to buy something off the rack b/c I dont want anyone else showing up in the same dress as her... soooo this weekend I was looking at pics and I noticed there are alot of bridesmaids styles that arent really used to often b/c they are somewhat conservative but very elegant. Would it be really strange if I had my mom look at 'bridesmaid' dresses???

Re: Has anyone considered..??
Absolutely NOT. You're mother can wear anything she wants. My mother, who is 50 is wearing strapless because she didn't want a jacket because it makes her look older. If she loves a BM dress then that's fine. Good Luck.

Not at ALL!! Hey, as long as she ain't lookin' at wedding gowns, I say thank your lucky stars and let her buy something she feels good in, even if it is a BM dress. My mom looked at BM dresses too... knowing the history of my mom and her gown shopping, uh, issues -- I realize that that isn't exactly a good recommendation but hey, you get what I'm getting at!

I was actually thinking of doing the same thing! My momis 50 but a young and cool 50 and she refuses towear anything 'farty' and black! She was getting ideas of some more youthful styles from conservative bridesmaid dresses. Those ideas may turn into her gown! We'll wait to see the styles as it gets closer!
Good Luck!

Those were exactly the ones I was thinking of!!!!! Its been soo hard getting her to find something she even is willing to go try on b/c all the people in the ads look like they are 65 and I know it makes her feel old... I think if she sees a young chick in 'her dress' she would feel better about it!

My mom looked at BM dresses too. I don't think it's weird at all. If she's pcky at all, start looking NOW! My wedding is less than 3 months away and my mom can't find anything she loves. She has bought a dress, but she's hoping to find something better.

I don't see why not, as long as it is elegant enough for a mother

Definately!! My mom is young too and pretty attractive, we hated most of the MOB dresses we saw. She ended up with an evening gown - not in the 'wedding' shops at all.

Re: Has anyone considered..??
My mom just found one this weekend and it's a bridesmaid dress but it's gorgeous and it looked great on her so who cares! As long as your bridesmaids aren't wearing it, doesn't matter!
Here's the one she loves (probably in black)

My mom also considered a Lazaro at one point. The one on the left, she was going to add a black chiffon shawl.

Re: Has anyone considered..??
Thanks girls!! I thought I was crazy but you made me feel so much better!!! We are going dress shopping this weekend and maybe going to check out Jessica mcclintock
here are a few I found online that I thought could be MOB dresses
I think the last one is gorgeous it has really nice beading on the top that you cant see and comes in navy and some other colors not just cream
My mother is getting a 'traditional' MOH dress, either. I don't see anything wrong with getting a BM dress if it's flattering. My grandmother will probably wear something similar to what is being sold as MOH.
