My mom is still pretty young.. 43 and lookin good for her age. Well all the MOB dresses we have gone and looked at are ' old lady grandma dresses' according to her. I dont really want her to buy something off the rack b/c I dont want anyone else showing up in the same dress as her... soooo this weekend I was looking at pics and I noticed there are alot of bridesmaids styles that arent really used to often b/c they are somewhat conservative but very elegant. Would it be really strange if I had my mom look at 'bridesmaid' dresses???

FYI, If anyone li es near Northport there is a store here called Dorothy Walsh. My friends mother got her dress there it wass a halter top with layers if chiffon that went all the way down the dress. Good luck
My mom got her dress there too! And she has her first fitting today!

my mother hated all of the traditional MOB dresses as well....so hse wound up buying one that was pretty - but was more like a BM gown than MOB dress. Nothing wrong with it ata ll! Her picture is in my profile if you want to take a look

soon2bMz - my mom looked at BM dresses until she eventually found some non-traditional looking MOB dresses to wear to me and my brother weddings a couple years ago. Nothing wrong with that. Look around there are also MOB styles these days that are gorgeous and non-traditional (frumpy!).....they can be found. The second dress you posted with the wrap silver and beading looks very similar to the dress my MIL wore to my SIL's wedding this year - except she added straps and a little bolero jacket to it...it looked great on her (and it wasn't a BM dress).
This was the mfg my mom wore for my wedding - see dress #911 - It had a jacket which my mom had tapered/made fitted and wore for church and because it was chilly...but it was strapless and gorgeous with a deep slit in the back! She wore it in eggplant color.
Thanks to tourist and Bethsiar's suggestions, my mom looked at bridesmaid dresses and found one that she loves! (The MOB dresses were just not her style.) So, I don't think it is strange at all as long as your mom loves the dress and looks and feels great in it!

My mom also considered this one from David's Bridal
And that middle pic you posted looks really good on - my MOH tried that one on!
I think the last one is gorgeous it has really nice beading on the top that you cant see and comes in navy and some other colors not just cream
I really like that one. I don't think I would pick it for a BM, but it's great for a mom!

She should try Sugarplum or even Bloomingdales, Saks or Nordstrom.
All have a nice selection of dresses and they carry hot-looking gowns too!

My FMIL bought a BM dress and my mom got a MOB dress but my sis says its not like the typical MOB dress. They both got their dresses a David's Bridal
