Re: Has anyone donated...
Check with your RH, they may know someone. I know my ex gives them to a local nursing home.

Re: Has anyone donated...
Our Rh will not let us do anything with the leftover food. They say they can't give it to us because it is a health issue and a legal issue. I don't know what they do with it.

That is a great idea, I was just talking to my mom the other day about donating the leftover food and flowers somewhere.

Re: Has anyone donated...
There is City Harvest, they come around collecting food from restaurants so they can feed the homeless or those in need of food...
Definitely call Island Harvest (or City Harvest if you are in NYC). They will arrange everything for you. They give to almost every soup kitchen, shelter on LI. Because of the economy, and the time of year (lots of people only donate food around Thanksgiving) there is a gigantic need. I try to do it for every event I have. Good luck!

ditto
that is why we are not allowed to take dishes from guests who are no shows. we can, however, bring pastries home (not sure what the difference is - i guess pastries don't spoil?)
