I want to know too. I was thinking of doing it in the kitchen. This is the wall it would cover:

Picture...The refrigerator was sent to the dump, and we are going to replace it with a new one...So I would do from behind the stove till where the frig would start.

Behind stove

I saw a show on hgtv last night where they did it, They had those little mosaic glass tiles that come like a sheet all together. Im thinking the hardest part maybe cutting the tiles.

Yeah thats what I think too. I saw it on While you ere out or in a fix or something and it looked like it could spruce up the kitchen a bit.

We already painted the kitchen BM Kittery Point Green...but it just needs some more oomf.

We did, we did!!! There's a picture of the backsplash on this website http://share.shutterfly.com/osi.jsp?i=EeBtGrho5audg

Actually, not to brag , but, I did most of the backsplash myself! FI cut the weird shaped tiles, and I put them all up myself... it took us probably about 3 hours to complete the whole backsplash, but as you can see, our kitchen is rather small... it's not hard AT ALL... You have to (1) get concrete board and cut it to shape, and screw it into the wall, (2) get the plaster, and (3) cut the tiles to shape... and then line them up the way you want, start in the middle and just keep going until you're done! Before we decided to do it, we went to one of those seminars at Home Depot where they show you how to do it... based on that, we also tiled the floor ourselves... which took about 2 days... it's really not that hard... and if you don't have a tile cutter, you can rent one from home depot (although buying one costs about $100, which works out to be cheaper if you rent the tile cutter for more than a day)... the tiles we got from Home Depot... so all in all, the project cost between $300-$400...

We just bought our backsplash. My hubby and his cousin are going to be doing the job themselves. This is the last project of my brand new kitchen.

Bxgell2 are your backsplash tiles slate? My backsplash tiles look very similar to yours except they are a different color. Yours also look porous (sp?). Just a tip* be sure to seal them with sealant.

We JUST sealed them! They are really porous, and FH was worried about that near the stovetop, but so far no problems... the tiles aren't slate though... they're ceramic - from home depot! (like everything else in our house )

Re: has anyone done a tile backsplash

Thanks everyone. Last night we were at Danielle's sisters house and she just had her whole house redone. We were in the kitchen and we were looking at her tile backsplash that was just installed. It looked amazing. It was like the one posted on shutterfly but it had different shades of colored tiles. It is beautiful. She ordered the sealant, and she just has to go pick it up.
