we wanted to avoid the same situation, mine say:

_____ Will Attend

_____ Will Not Attend

Number of Persons ____

This is EXACTLY what mine says, but we have a feeling even with a couple seeing ONLY THEIR NAMES on the envelope and not their kids, they will still assume the kids are invited and list them on the RSVP.... I'm all ready to make those phone calls!!!

Thank you everyone for your replies! I would love to have the actual names placed on the rsvp but that seems like it could turn out to be a ton of work...

i actually came across a past brides rsvp's that said:
___ seats have been reserved in your honor

___ accept with pleasure
___ of ___ will attend

___ decline with regret

I did my invites myself and I actually put everyones name on the rsvp card. It wasn't that bad actually. I was going to do the '____ seats have been reserved' but decided to scrap that idea. the reason for this was because we had an A and B list and we were banking on ppl from th A list to not attend that way we could start pulling ppl from the B list. We thought that if we told ppl that a certain # of seats were reserved for them, then they may decide to bring someone else other than the person they were originally invited with. For instance, one of my co-workers was invited with her boyfriend and because he can't make it, she wanted to substitute with one of her friends. We could not allow this because we wanted to fill that slot. And it's not if there is no one that she would not know there because i am inviting many co workers. But that's just one instance but you wouldn't believe how many ppl were trying to substitute ppl.

You are absolutely right!!! I am still making phone calls for just about every invite I sent. I don't believe ppl sometimes I personalized each rsvp card, wrote 'adult only' on the reception card, placed the invitees names on BOTH inner AND outer envelopes and STILL ppl responded with their kids. I just don't get it

i think it says something like...

Mr. & Mrs. Stuart Patterson (<---- like my made up name )

2 seats have been reserved in your honor

_______accepts with pleasure
_______declines with regret

i think that this is a little difficult, your invite person will need to type all your guests out and the seats too...but i totally dig this way, and will prob do it

I love that, but wow, you have to print each card separately. Any idea what that would cost?
