I was thinking that during my father-daughter dance, I was going to have pics of us together - me growing up, etc.
My parents divorced when I was young, and I feel he missed a lot of my childhood - I know he feels guilty about it (especially my mother had a chemical imbalance, so things were hard) also, he remarried 20 years ago, and I have a stepsister, and I would just like to honor something that was between me and him - my childhood... I thought the pics would be a good way to remind him that he was there for me, and even though he is quiet and uncommunicative, I want him to see that I chose to do something sentimental
(and to top it all off - I'm playing 'you raise me up' by Josh Groban - can someone say sob fest????)

its a great idea - i mean i think its different because your adding pictures. its not 'slap my butt and call me sally - i cant believe she did that!' lol. But it will be really special between you and your dad. nice touch!

During our father/daugher dance we had pictures of us while I was growing up on 3 plasma screens that were around the room. I gave the DJ the pics and they put it all together. It was a very nice touch.
We'll have 2 screens - cool!!! Did it make everyone cry????

Re: Has anyone else done this?
I have to add to this ... just thinking about dancing with my dad brings me to tears. Adding pictures may put me over the edge. We have very similar experiences by the way. My mom also has a severe chemical imbalance and my dad left when I was 11. It was so hard especially being left to handle an 'un-well' mother. No matter what tho - fathers and daughters have a unique bond. Its hard not having them around on a day to day basis. My FI and I were in Penn Station the other day and we were talking about the wedding and dancing with my dad came up and I started crying then. Im sure all your guests will be in tears! Also - I have a while to go but I saw you are getting a trial with Mia. You have to post pics - i adore her work and def. want to use her when I get married. Perhaps, you can hire her to stay until after the father daughter dance to give you a touch up. I like your song choice too.

Re: Has anyone else done this?
geez orry im posting like 42 times lol! I wanted to share the song Im going to dance with my father too ...
There You'll Be - Faith Hill
When I think back On these times And the dreams We left behind I'll be glad 'cause I was blessed to get To have you in my life When I look back On these days I'll look and see your face You are there for me
[CHORUS:] In my dreams I'll always see you soar Above the sky In my heart There always be a place For you for all my life I'll keep a part Of you with me And everywhere I am There you'll be
Well you showed me How it feels To feel the sky Within my reach And I always Will remember all The strength you Gave to me Your love made me Make it through Oh, I owe so much to you You were right there for me
[Repeat chorus]
'Cause I always saw in you My light, my strength And I want to thank you Now for all the ways You were right there for me You were right there for me For always

I think it is an absolutely beautiful touch to the father daughter dance...one that he will appreciate. I'm sure he'll hold you even tighter during the dance, and you'll create a memory that you and all your guests watching will treasure forever! I'm getting misty just thinking about it!!

Definitely I'll post pics - I'll have to convince my FH to leave his camera at home so my BM and MOH (future stepdaughter) can take pics - he may want to take his camera because he's a photographer - and he's so against me going on this site, he may put up a fuss - actually, he got over me being on this site!!!
- thats strange how we are so similar with the parent situation - I get misty thinking about dancing with my dad too...
OMG - if he holds me closer I'll lose it!!!
