Has anyone else NOT found even one invite they like?
Original post by prncssrachel
I HATE them all. I just have not found one that I would put my name on. (Can we say drama queen, sorry, it's the snow day ) But does anyone have any sites I can look at invites on? Thanks girls.

I feel the same way
I've looked online, but nothing is standing out at me... I keep requesting samples, but nothing. I think it's time to go to the stores...

I couldn't find a single invitation that I liked either. well, maybe a few, but they were way out of my budget. so i had custom invitations made by Gaddis Design . You can make them as formal or informal as you like and Melissa is a pleasure to work with.

Thanks for the help girls. I just have the problem of...I look at something, really like it, look at it again, really cannot stand it! ARGH! I found these, but again, don't think they are formal enough. Hopefully it is not too big....
i know, i know...me too...
as far as keeping it 'formal', i think keeping them simple with straight lines (i.e. lose the puffy, large bows) and adding a velum piece should do the trick. the 'busy border' is what makes the one you posted less formal...JMO...
what is the price factor?
do you want to keep co$ts down or are you willing to spend $500-$1000. I don't want to spend that much and am therefore opting to create something myself.

I'll spend 5-600 if I need to, but I would prefer less than that.

Lion in the Sun is awesome. Their selection is incredible. Their website isn't helpful, you should check them out in person.

I am having problems too!!! I want simple, yet elegant. Many of them are too simple! I thought I would have no problems with this. I def don't want any pictures of a bride and groom or anything like this. And I find most of them have purple/pink accents!!! When I search online, it seems like I'm looking at the same invites over and over. I did find ones that I like, not love on mygatsby.com

I don't want plain either. UGH! So annoying. I really don't know what I am looking for. That's the real problem.

I agree Lion in the Sun had great stuff and really really nice people who work there.
I got my invites last weekend at Noteworthy in Woodbury Commons...I loved them there.

I have had the same experience Rachel - nothing really 'wows' me. Soooo, I am going to work with Sonicstef, whose work is amazing!

I think you should go see someone who does custom made invites. I originally had that problem and was sooo pissed that I couldn't find anything i liked. I ended up getting invitations that were not from a catalog but custom made based on suggestions from Rebecca (Favorite Things) and my taste.
Good luck!

I had the same problem...I had some of the vendors make me samples of custom made ones...but nothing was good enough. Finally...I found ones that I love (acutally FH found them when I dragged him to yet another store to look through those big books!). These are the ones we wound up with...they are from Encore. Good luck...keep searching...you will find something!
PS. The picture does them no justice...the paper is just beautiful in person...
Re: Has anyone else NOT found even one invite they like?
I found things that I liked, but I couldn't spend very much money, and the cheap ones were cheap looking to me. So I made mine. A lot of work but SO worth it - I probably saved myself $300.
And as to the bow, I'm using a modified bow - a crossover, it mails and travels better.

your invite inspired me to do the same
quick questions:
1. how did you attach the velum? 1. how did you attach the bow? 2. how does one line envelopes if need be? is it too messy you think?

Oh my goodness, no I'm not going to get them yet! i'm sure that's the way it seems. I just want to get an idea of what I like. I have no clue.
ETA: We are sending out STDs this July. Some say it's too early, but I know my friends and family always have their plans for the fourth of july a year in advance, so I figure it wouldn't hurt to send them out. Plus we have people from out of the country.

1. how did you attach the velum (and the bow)? - Holes in both the card and the vellum - I tied the vellum to the card. You can make a regular bow, or you can do a crossover bow.
I bought the paper at www.artpaper.com and cut it. You can also go to www.formalinvitations.com - it'd be easier, although www.a1ribbon.com and ebay sells the ribbon for less, and ebay has the vellum for much less. I got the vellum from www.myinvitationstation.com - another great site.
2. how does one line envelopes if need be? is it too messy you think? I bought lined envelopes from www.cjpaper.com. They were $30 or so shipped for 100.
