Has Anyone Ever.....

Been to a wedding ceremony and then a much later reception???

My brother is in the Navy and the only chance for him to be in my wedding is in February 2008. Now we are pretty deep into planning a summer wedding and it's not feesable to push everything up by 5 months. My current thinking is to have a church ceremony and a little something after.

I am looking for feedback and ideas.

Do you mean that you would keep the summer plans and then in Feb do the church and the actual vows?? A friend of mine did something similar. She got married in Florida...very small and then a year later did the whole church and vows and then had a BBQ after. They were legally married in Florida but the church didn't recognize it since they didn't get married in a church...it was nice though...she had 2 weddings.
