I tired it once briefly- the shakes gave me horrible stomach pains.

They have so much sugar in them. the regulsar one in the store has 35 sugars. This is way too much!

Do you have a shake for breakfast, one for lunch, and then a regular dinner? This will slow down your metablolism, so that when you eat real food, your body will store it as fat, thinking it won't be getting food in a long time.

Just my opinion.

DH and I are on and off it...

never the premade drinks (awful in my opinion)...I use the powder (chocolate only) and only use 1/3-1/2 of a scoop...

sometimes I switch it up with a bowl of smartstart or fiber one...(which have similar plans for weight loss)

I've lost 8 pounds and DH has lost 10...

there are so many fruits and snacks that are allowed on the plan that you do not go below 1200 cal (starvation trigger)

we went away this weekend and bought the meal replacements..so we wouldn't be tempted to go out and eat...and they were awful...but they tasted exactly like a powerbar...which I think essentially what they are...

I did like the coffee/cappuchino shakes that were premade. They were like having coffee and breakfast in one.

I think with one meal replacement you can see results and keep the weight off if the meal you replace the shakes with has about the same calories.

I also 'love' the MetRX 'Ultra Pure Protein' Shakes, the strawberry is amazing 35g protein 3 grms carbs, and only 160 calories. I love these for refuel after those hard workouts

Good luck!

Ok I am not a paid spokesperson. But I did lose 40 pounds on slimfast. But then I met the FH and gained 15 pounds. I am now on WW but I still use slimfast for breakfast or lunch.

I think its a temporary way to lose weight.....WW makes the best chocolate shakes. Mix the powder with ice and skim milk in the blender...MMMMMMMM!!!!!

I dont like the slim fast idea. I tried it once and i loved the shakes but still found myself hungry.

and exactly what is a sensible meal???

A friend of ours his FI is on it and she lost a lot of weight but its like she is killing herself to do it. She wont eat, she has the slim fast shakes and thinks that is all she allowed to have and at times it makes her sick.

I would look into WW. You can eat what you want, as much as you want (as long as you stay in your point range) and even the WW stuff like the smart ones are really good.

I've used Slim Fast before and it gave me such upset stomachs and diarrhea (sorry if TMI).

Re: has anyone ever done

Dani...a lot of people say that...luckily it hasn't happened for me!!

chippa...you do get to eat...I try to combine WW ideas with slimfast...

breakfast: shake...or cereal for about 200 cal (3-4 points)
snack: fruit (1 point)
lunch: shake...or bar (again 200 cal) AND fruit (3-4 points)
snack: something about 100-150 cal (2-3 points)
dinner...600 cal (all of those WW and LC meals are usually under 300...so you can have that AND something else) AND fruit (8-10 points)
snack: 100-150 cal (2-3 points)

19-25 points...or 1200-1500 cal

I have never had the upset stomach part either. I have been on it for 2 years. I love the cookies and cream bars, the chocolate peanut nuggat snack bars, the peanutbutter crunch bars (they're like butterfingers but smaller) and the chocolate malt shake. I usually have fruit with it or a cup tea.

Re: has anyone ever done

Jen...those PB crunchs are the best!!!

Yup WW makes shakes, you can buy them at the meetings or I think on their website. But definitely at the meeting. Combine the powder, skim milk and ice in a blender - only 2 pts!
