Has anyone ever drove to Florida?

Our family vacations to Fla, were always road trips. I loved them and would love to do it again sometime.

Anyone have a similar experience?

Growing up all our vacations were by car ... I was never on a plane until the summer after Freshman year in HS to visit my best friend in Albuquerque!!

When we were young the usual trip was to the Catskill Game Farm. We eventually graduated to Boston, Cape Cod, Maine, Montreal and Toronto. I guess as we got older, my father could stand more hours on the road with us



My mom now lives in South Carolina and me & DH have done the drive several times with two dogs I also drove it myself once

I drove to Mertle Beach, South Carolina with three friends. We had the time of our life...so much fun and we made pit stops in all the states we were interested in visiting..

We always drove, but never that far. The onw time we went to Florida we flew.
The furthest we drove was probably Quebec City.
We wnet away once a summer, and then little trips 2-3 other times a year to visit my grandparents in
the Saratoga area.

Yep!! Me and the girls rented a mini-van and drove down to South Beach 2 summers ago -- it was great!! We had a blast and it's a really easy drive. We made it to Tampa in about 22 hours... hung out there for a few days and then drove on to Miami. We flew back though!!

Last Christmas, me and DH drove straight down to Florida (hit the FL state line in about 13 hrs, I think) and then stayed there for about a week. On the way back, we stopped in GA and North Carolina to visit some more family.

When I was in HS i went to Va alot. just to go to williamsburg and stuff. went several tiems with DH furthest Ive gone was to NC with him. When I was 16 I went to tennessee by bus worst trip sitting on a bus for all those hours. I would love to take my kids but the drive to me is to long. DH and I were dicussing going to williamsburg just last night. debating what to do for vacation this year that is not to expensive and that the kids might enjoy.

When I was a little kid, my family would always take car trips to Florida. We'd drive 14 hours one day, stay over at a motel, and drive 10 hours the next day. My mom would keep me entertained with a grab bag of little toys and activities that I could choose every once in awhile. My sister, who was 10 years older than me, and hence, a teenager would sleep through multiple states at a time!

The best part used to be looking for all the South of the Border signs - my favorite was the one with the sheep jumping!!

DH and I drove to Ft. Lauderdale twice, it was a nice drive too! The first time we went was when we first started dating - and after spending 20+ hours in the car with me, a thermos of black coffee and a 5 pound bag of Swedish Fish, I knew Craig was something worth keeping when he didn't kick me out of the car along the way! Now we always joke about it saying that it was the defining point of our relationship because if we could survive that car ride, then we could get through anything

OMG! I remember those South of the Border signs! 'Remember, tell them Pedro sent you!'

We used to drive down to Flroida once a year to visit my grandparents. I-95 is such a loooooooooooooooong road!

I drove across country, twice.

Go for it - it's a lot of fun.

I drove to Florida in My little 2 door Civic one summer with my Best Friend april. We drove to South Florida Ft. Lauderdale to stay with my brother. Then on the way back we stopped in Disney for 3 nights. Going there we stopped in GA. And stayed over night coming I drove straight through Probably not the best choice but We made it home alive.


I went the next summer with my Husband to visit his family in South florida again and to see my brother we went got there on July 4th. and then stopped in Disney for 3 nights. We stopped in hotels both times.


We had so much fun each time and I would do it again tomorrow. Although I do have to say each time we went we stayed almost 2 weeks. It wasnt a 3 hour drive to just go and come home 2 days later.





ETA: I remember all the Pedro South of The border signs LOL... We got there and we were like this is South of The Border. Also both times in florida we got speeding tickets LOL.

OMG, you just described our trips, except I have an older brother that slept. I loved the South of the border signs with Pedro.
