Please let me know if it is worth the extra money. We are having a terrible time with our travel agent and we are booking the honeymoon ourselves. We are traveling to Hawaii so the extra room would be nice.

I've never flown first class but I have to tell that I've flown them in regular class and I just thought the airline was terrible! No food, small old seats, and the planes were totally outdated!
For a flight to Hawaii I might try a bigger carrier! JMO though! Good luck!

FH used them for a business trip to vegas a few weeks and he said it fine. Nothing special.

I would be careful with America West... FH is in the military so he and his friends have flown coach class for America West often and they have reported tons of delays and cancellations due to mechanical problems and stuff that shouldn't really happen that often.

I haven't flown America West in about 7 years but from my experience, I don't recommend them at all. On my way back from Lake Tahoe, NV, we landed at a California airport to connect to a different flight to NY and the connecting flight was America West too and they kept us at the gate past the time we were supposed to be there and our connecting flight (which is America West also) left without us and then we had to wait overnight for another flight. B/c both flights were America West, they were supposed to wait for us to get off the plane and board the connecting flight. it was terrible and I really don't recommend them.

i took them to vegas about 4 years ago and didnt have a problem... FH got a bit motion sick on the way back but he gets motion sick from trying to read in the car so i wouldnt attribute that to america west. their deal was good but we flew coach so not sure about first class. i do remember the red eye home being mostly empty which gave us a lot of space.

i have never flown them because i only heard bad things about their service inflight,schedule delays, and their planes in general. Their coach is pretty bad and im pretty sure their first is not much better. i wouldnt bother paying for first. Sincde your flying to hawaii hawaiian airline, aloha, and american have nice first class.

I am freaking out...we just booked america west /united airlines (just merged) for our Hawaii honeymoon in July...just wondering if we should try to get onto AA ..we had the choice and went with America West cause they were 300 bux cheaper and we are trying to cut costs...Should I call my travel agent and switch?? HELP

If you can re-book I would do it. If you are stuck don't worry too much, you'll get where you need to be but you may get a few delays or something.

I flew America West this summer. 1) Definitely don't upgrade to first class, it was not that much nicer (not what you would expect on a bigger carrier) 2) if you can get out of flying them, do it. We were supposed to make a connection which they cancelled because the plane wasn't booked full enough and we had to wait 6 hrs for the next one!!! They also broke our luggage and the planes were garbage.

i had my worst plane experience EVER with america west (and my family is not picky at all). i forget exactly what the situation was b/c i was young.. but we ended up waiting in LGA for like 4 hours before they got us on the plane, then got stuck in columbus ohio for 12 hours! on our way to LA. It was origiannally supposed to be a direct flight and they ended up poutting us on this tiny plane and all i remember was my mom freaking out. it was terrible. DOnt do it!!! i cant beleive everyone else here has had bad experiences too...that must mean something.

we are taking america west to hawaii, it saved us about 700 bucks. we'll see, I can't change it now.
