has anyone ever gotten this favor?

A mini bottle of champagne or wine? If so, did you drink it? I am worried that people are just going to throw them out or put them in the back of their liquor cabinet and find it 10 years from now.

Do you think people would be more likely to use a full size bottle of champagne or wine?

Am I worrying over nothing?

Re: has anyone ever gotten this favor?

People will either drink it or keep it, and even if they do keep it and find it 10 years from now, won't they be reminded of your wedding, which is the essence of a favor anyway? I've gotten two bottles before from weddings and neither has been opened, but I like to save them as...favors...

Re: has anyone ever gotten this favor?

Ive gotten wine but I never drink wine at home so Ive given it away. But if I got champagne Im sure I would find a way to use it for some occassion. I think its a good favor but there is one problem:

If your guests are mostly wine drinkers and will thus really appreciate the wine, they will know what constitutes a good bottle so you will have to spend a pretty penny to get that. If your guests dont know the difference between a good bottle and a not so good bottle, they are bound not to be really appreciate of the favor.

Re: has anyone ever gotten this favor?

I have gotten both mini bottles of champagne and wine and saved them for awhile and then eventually drank them.

I gave out full sized bottled of wine and I know people have already told me that they drank them!!!

Re: has anyone ever gotten this favor?

I have gotten wine bottles at weddings, but never drank the wine, although I still have the bottles. I think it is a nice favor. The bottles that I got had really nice labels on them with the couples name and date.

I've gotten them and never drank them, I don't know why! A full sized bottle I would drink.

Re: has anyone ever gotten this favor?

In response to SonicStef's post- I did have some wine collectors at my wedding but I did not let that influence my decision. (I mean the people who think the $50 bottle is the cheap stuff!!!) I did by my wine from Duckwalk vineyards and probably spent about $7/bottle. Some of them took it and some left it behind ... wound up I felt bad but they had told my DH that they forgot it and actually apologized and wondered if we had them. Wound up they disappeared at the end of the night (not sure if hall or other guests scuffed them up) so we could not give it to them.

Re: has anyone ever gotten this favor?

I am using mini champagne bottles because:

1. I like the idea
2. Any one who knows me knows that Champagne is my weakness, I love the stuff!!!

I have gotten them and I used them. My Fh also received one at a wedding ,but since he does not drink he just keeps it on a shelf as a reminder of the wedding.

Again I will say, I like the idea.

Re: has anyone ever gotten this favor?

Good question! We were thinking of using mini bottles of wine too! My FH had the same concern! I think it's a great idea! I've never been to an affair where I got it as a favor! I guess that's why I thought of doing it! We are also doing Wine Charms with it!

Re: has anyone ever gotten this favor?

Yes! I'm a wine drinker, and think that this makes a nice favor. Even though I have my favorites, I'm always willing to try a new label.

I found that the small bottles fit perfectly on my spice shelf. I often use them in cooking (the stuff labeled 'cooking wine' is terrible). We had friends over for dinner the other night-they gave out small wine bottles as favors at their wedding a few months ago. We used the wine to make poached pears that we all had for dessert! It was fun to use 'their' wine.
