your guests taking home the flower arrangements after the reception? I am buying all the vases for my flowers since I have a particular style and some of my family members keep telling me our guests are going to take the flowers home with them (thus the vases as well).
I know at showers the centerpieces are raffled off sometimes but guests walking out with arrangements from a wedding seems strange...has anyone ever heard of this?

Yes a lot of times they do but the arrangements are usually done on a plate that sits on-top of the vase so they just take the top part off.

I heard its quite common and that is why I made sure my CP's were not rentals.

Yupp, this is pretty typical. Guests took home our CPs from the wedding and boy were they heavy.

I didn't know they did this either, I thought it was just the flower part. We're renting the tree's from Sand Castle, hopefully no one tries to walk out with one of those babies

I think our vases are rented also...and im worried guests will try to walk out with them and not just take the flowers on top haha. Anyone know a way to prevent this?

This - this is what we will have, as well.
ETA - i dont think our guests will take them; BUT they are pretty big so if someone thinks they can take a crystal candelabra we will totally just stop them! LOL I've also heard of ppl doing little raffles (like, the person at the table who finds a penny under her plate gets the flowers on top) to direct ppl to take the plate only

Yup. At every wedding I've ever been to, people take the centerpieces home with them. It's kind of nice because they will go to waste otherwise. Your guests can admire the flowers at home. Unless of course, the centerpieces are rented. In that case you need to tell the BM to inform the staff that they if they see guests leaving with a centerpiece, the must inform them that it is not allowed.

Yeah, I'm kind of nervous because we're not doing a traditional table arrangement...our wedding planner is transforming the place. My mom and I bought every single vase, votive, hurricane candle, etc! Oh well...I guess if someone really wants something they can have it...!

Yes it's common. It was actually something our DJ asked us about so he can make an announcement. We aren't going to announce it but I am pretty sure some people will take home the low CPs we have.

don't be surprised!!! we rented ours and a few guests tried to lift it and bring home but finally gave up because it's too heavy AND bulky!!!

my mom is one of those that always takes the flowers home lol
i've seen this alot actually, only time that i know that someone rented the vases at the end of the night when everyone was leaving and the dj said his good bye he added at the end 'and please do not bring the vases home with you as request of the bride and groom'

Re: Has anyone ever heard of....
yes, this happens at most weddings. And if the vases are rentals, I have heard of the RH wrapping the flowers in celophane for guests to take home

Thank God they're heavy, I'm sure someone at our wedding will try this too, I'm almost curious to see who
