your guests taking home the flower arrangements after the reception? I am buying all the vases for my flowers since I have a particular style and some of my family members keep telling me our guests are going to take the flowers home with them (thus the vases as well).
I know at showers the centerpieces are raffled off sometimes but guests walking out with arrangements from a wedding seems strange...has anyone ever heard of this?

I think our vases are rented also...and im worried guests will try to walk out with them and not just take the flowers on top haha. Anyone know a way to prevent this?
If you're renting them from your florist they usually have someone there at the end of the reception to pick them up. I'm a florist and every time I go to a wedding I do the flowers for I hope people take them home, that way they're not going to waste getting tossed in the garbage or vases sold / given to their house florist

Yes Guests take them home, but even if you rent out the vases ( since they do cost alot of money) the florsist can make the arrangement so it still holds if you want your guests to take the CP home

I didn't know they did this either, I thought it was just the flower part. We're renting the tree's from Sand Castle, hopefully no one tries to walk out with one of those babies
don't be surprised!!! we rented ours and a few guests tried to lift it and bring home but finally gave up because it's too heavy AND bulky!!!
LMAO!! Im getting trees too with candles hung on them and it's all being rented from Pedestals..Nobody better leave with my trees! haha they won't be able to get out the door

it depends what you florist gives you. Certain stands they come and pick up the day after the party, others are yours and therefore given to your guests

we had our florist take some of the CP's apart and wrap up the flowers so that every guest left with a mini bouquet.

Thank God they're heavy, I'm sure someone at our wedding will try this too, I'm almost curious to see who
I am sure i will have family trying to drive up to the door and steal them anyway! But there will be plenty of workers around to tell them 'No!'
You can always have DJ make an announcement about what can/can't be removed from table. Sometimes the dj's play a game to see who will win from each table, otherwise it's a free for all!

yes, we did this. People we're fighting over ours. We just had the DJ make a quick announcement at the end of the night 'the cps are up for grabs, the person who can take them home is the person at the table who's birthday is next'. No raffle or game, it was quick and painless. We had about 20 tables and we were only left with 2 CPs. I mean, what would I do with 20 CPs anyway?

I have never been to a wedding where the centerpieces were taken by guests, but I have heard of it.
I am actually in the process of collecting milk glass for my wedding, and my florist recommended putting out 5-7 vases per table so that guests could each take a vase home filled with flowers as their favor. I am just trying to think of a cute way of telling guests to each take a vase!

YES!! IF the DJ doesn't make an announcement on how they will be given away, then people usually grab them and if they are left on other tables they take them too.
think about it, if they are pretty flowers why would you want to waste them??

i am going to beg my guest to take home the arrangements!!!! i paid for them and I wont have any use for them after the wedding. They dont get to take the vases home, just the flowers and the pot that the flowers are in.

yes, this happens at most weddings. And if the vases are rentals, I have heard of the RH wrapping the flowers in celophane for guests to take home
chateau la mer did this at my best friends wedding

Only if you offer it!!!!!
It is not expected, Id say its only happened at like a fourth of the weddings ive been to
If youwant them, then keep them noone will blink, if not then give them out because they go straight in the garbage

Re: Has anyone ever heard of....
this might be making an assumption of my own self but i feel like jewish woman love this! my mom and her friends do it all the time. i am having the florist break down the flowers and wrap them in the last hour of the wedding so they can hand them out to the ladies on the way out (and that way they wont take the rented vases) :)

i know most people do take them home, what am i going to do with them afterwards? but like the other poster said, most of them are on plates so you can't take the vase
