Has anyone ever heard of or done this?

My mom was told by the women she works with that the mom usually gives gifts to the bridal party, in addition to the gift I would give them.
I have never heard of this practice, have any of you?

I've been to and been in a lot of weddings and I have never heard of that before.

First time I hear of this - maybe the woman has a different cultural background, that has that tradition.

never heard of that before! And IMHO, i think that's ridiculous! Why would your mom give them gifts as well?

*I think your moms co-worker has been hitting the bottle at work. Either that or she's making stuff up.

My mom was the one who gave the gifts to the BP but I did not.

I have never heard of it, however, for a friends wedding a few BMs (including myself) slept over and the bride's mom got us embroidered towles with our names on it! They were pink (the color of our dresses) and soooo soft!

Yes, I have. I don't know if it's a cultural tradition or what. But I know that Italian mother usually give these statues (I HATE THEM) like armani statues. I told my mom that it was ok for her to give them a gift but not the statues. She got a little po'ed but honestly they are a waste of money IMO.

I've never heard of that either. The only gifts my mom gave to my BP was at my bridal shower and it was a little something for the BM's.

I think it might be an Italian thing. This was done at my shower. I am not Italian but my DH is. The bridesmaids were given beautiful statues, as well as the flowergirls (they got statues of a little flowergirl). And i got a big bride and groom Armani statue which i LOVE!
My MOH did all the work of planning by bridal shower b/c my mom lives in Las Vegas. She explained to my mom that the statues was something they have always done for the bridal party and asked if it was ok with her since my mom was paying for everything.
i thought they were beautiful !

Yes.

When I was in my cousin's wedding we got a beautiful statue from my aunt. It was an Armani and I adore it now (at the time, I didn't...but now I love it). Actually, I registered for another Armani because I loved it so much and my cousin got it for me... It was such a nice moment at my shower.

My mom didn't do it though. No biggie...I think it may be more of a 'hard core' Italian thing...(at least with the Armani statue part). My friend's mom got us frames with our pic in it with my friend....that was cute.

i've never heard of it either.... and my mom didn't do it for my girls... but, she did pay for most of the shower, which i'm thinkin helped them out a lot
