Has anyone ever heard of or done this?

My mom was told by the women she works with that the mom usually gives gifts to the bridal party, in addition to the gift I would give them.
I have never heard of this practice, have any of you?

I think it might be an Italian thing. This was done at my shower. I am not Italian but my DH is. The bridesmaids were given beautiful statues, as well as the flowergirls (they got statues of a little flowergirl). And i got a big bride and groom Armani statue which i LOVE!
My MOH did all the work of planning by bridal shower b/c my mom lives in Las Vegas. She explained to my mom that the statues was something they have always done for the bridal party and asked if it was ok with her since my mom was paying for everything.
i thought they were beautiful !

It's the same thing in my family. When my aunt and my cousin got married the bridal party had beautiful Armani and Lladro statues waiting for them at their table. I'm guessing my mom will continue with the tradition once it's my turn

I've never heard of it - but my mom wanted to do something for the girls - so she paid for hair and makeup for the girls that got ready at my house

I've been involved with the armani statues once myself... italian tradition..... but never before that...

I've never heard of that Italian statue thing (although I'm 100% italian) however, for my sister's wedding, my mom did a ton!! For the BMs she paid for our nails, hair and makeup.

For my friends wedding her mom hand made beautiful bags that matched our dresses and had a gorgeous broach on all of them. The bride gave us David Yurman bracelts at the Rehersal dinner.

I'm Italian and I never heard of that but that could just be my family not being into that. I do know of a few MOB who gave the bridal party something nice usually hand made. My co-worker's mom made those wire models that had a replica of the BM dresses which is really nice. They tend to do it more if the mother had help from the bridal party planning the shower and stuff.
