I need help--I want to make a dog house (a cat house actually--I feed the feral cats at my work and I feel so bad for them with winter coming and want to make them some sort of shelter). I am not too good with the whole wood/nails thing. Any advice about an easy way to make one? The ones in stores seemed very expensive. Really they just need 4 walls to protect them from snow...I would cut a little hole for them...

They sell ones with heaters too. BTW, when you feed feral cats its a good idea not to use bowls. Just dump the food on the ground.

I don't know how to make a dog or cat ouse but I think you are sooo sweet for wanting too! Poor kitties!

Thank you. I asked my DH for one for xmas but I don't think he will figure out how to make one. At least I don't have to count on him to build me a house! The cats are so cute, and look out for each other. One is blind, and the others go and get him when I put out food and let him eat first. Nicer than many humans, and I feel so bad for them in the cold.

We built a station so it is raised from the ground (there are also rats around, and they would eat it on the ground). We then put it in large plastic dishes. They eat out of it, so it serves the purpose...

I did this many years ago for some feral cats I was feeding w/my Mom in front of Massapequa Mall (it used to be a small strip mall where I think Mercedes stands now. If you are serious, I will help you. I worked for a feral rescue/feeding group last year and I would be more than happy to help. F/M me!
