I don't know if you'll still be looking at this string, but I thought I'd add something I read just a moment ago on today's msn.com (11/26/05). I was debating whether to add it b/c I think star naming is such a unique and beautiful thing to do/give as a gift that I was shocked to read this and don't know what to believe now. Please know that I'm adding this b/c I saw your question just last night and it made me romanticize the idea, myself...and when I read this online today, I thought it would be wise to share. Just in case. It's about 5 holiday scams of which to be wary. Have safe holidays.

It's true--they can't buy and sell stars. It should be illegal that they take money from unsuspecting people. Print out your own certificate if you want (give him the moon if you want to--it's as valid as what they print out!), but don't pay them!
