After 3 weeks of the tylan making her worse, we brought katie back to the vet and the vet gave her a pred shot. I hope it doens't make her worse. the tylan really messedher up. It made her disgetsin problems WORSE and after not hvaing lost anything in 3 YEARS she lost 8 oz in 3 weeks! I couldn't believe it. I just hope it helps her. If this doens't work, it's either an expensive battery of tests, or putting her to sleep. I don't want to put her to sleep, but I just don't have the hundreds and hundreds it'll take to have all of these tests done, and she's 15 years old.

Re: Has anyone ever put an animal on prednisone?
that's the steroids, right?
my cat is on that- he has very bad asthma!
He does OK on it- but it makes him a little fatter than he already is. It does help with his breathing.

Hershey is just coming OFF it today. She's been taking it for her breathing but now the vet thinks it may be causing Cushings Disease.
ETA: They supposedly eat & drink A LOT when on Pred ... (Hershey did).

Re: Has anyone ever put an animal on prednisone?
My mini-pin (which lives with my mother b/c he needs full-time care) has been on Prednisone on & off for 3 years. (They need to cycle off of it every few refils).
It did not mess up his digestion at all, but he did eat a little less the first week. It is hard to tell b/c he had to go on an antibiotic the first time as well, so I am not sure what made him have a change in his appetite.
Good luck

I had a dog on Pred. many years ago. He peed a lot more. He felt better fast, but that was somewhat difficult because we were supposed to restrict his activities. He felt almost too good and wanted to do too much.
