Hi, Has anyone ever used or been to a wedding with pumpkin CPs? I was thinking of using orange and white pumpkins with pretty fall flowers in them. I have to see when I go to a florist what they can do.
My FMIL is having a heart attack because she thinks that Leonard's of Great Neck is so elegant and that I am cheapening it. She said it would be tacky!
I am so undecided about a lot of things, but how do you know if it is tacky or not until it's in the room and displayed????
I love the fall theme, but I don't want it to be gaudy.
What do you think???????
How did you know that the things you picked would look great at your venue (kind of a dumb question huh?)?????
I WENT TO A WEDDING LAST NIGHT AND MY FRIEND USED PUMPKINS AS HER CENTERPIECE WITH FALL WREATHS AROUND THEM. IT WAS VERY PRETTY WHEN I GET MY PICS DEVELOPE I WILL POST THEM. ALSO EVERYONE LAST NIGHT STARTED CARVING THERE PUMPKINS AND WE HAD A CONTEST. MY TABLE TOOK THE FRUIT ANIMAL DISPLAY FROM THE COCKTAIL HOUR WHICH WAS A BIRD SHAPE. WE CARVED OUR PUMPKIN INTO A BIRD CAGE AND ADDED THE FRUIT BIRD IN THE MIDDLE WITH OUR CANDLE. IT WAS SOO FUN. EVERYONE WAS HAVING A GREAT TIME. WHEN I GET THE PICS I WILL SHOW THEM

I don't think it is cheap....as long as you use nice flowers. I saw a craft on martha stewart the other day (and she is anything but cheap) where she cut out a pumpkin, slid a vase in, and put a ton of fall flowers in it. It looked really beautiful...it may be on her website or something.
I think everyone has to many 'opinions.' It's at the point now where my mom says before and after a sentence.....Now Nicole, this is just a suggestion OK- you don't have to do it if you don't want to.
I say you do whatever makes you happy. Whatever you have dreamed up in YOUR head for YOUR wedding and the kind that you want, you should do it!!

I think that they can be made gorgeous, and that they would look beautiful for a fall wedding. I love that top one.
My cousins actually got married the day before Halloween. They hired someone to carve their faces as Jack-O-Lanterns! They came out amazing!
Does you FMIL think you're going to be taking plastic Jack-O-Lantern Trick or Treat buckets and sticking flowers in them? Share a few pictures with her, maybe bring her to a florist appointment and let the florist explain how they can make it elegant.
I chose pillar candles for my CP's. Mom was against it at first, because 'The centerpieces should be flowers in a basket and that's it!' but I explained to her how nice the candles would look in our rh, and how flowers might take away from the view (we're on the water) where candles would add to it. She caved.

if I were to have had an October wedding, I would have used pumpkins as part of my CP design.. I think it's fabulous and it's different, and part of me wishes I had an October wedding!!!

those are very creative and unique, im getting married at leonards too, and although the place itself is very showy, i think the CP are fine, show her some pics etc

I think the pumpkin CPs are anything BUT tacky. They're fun and tasteful and will look great at Leonards. They'd look great anywhere...

I really think that is a nice idea. I saw it being done on Martha Stewarts show last monday and was really impressed. If Martha makes centerpieces with pumpkins then it should be totally acceptable You just need to do what you like. But i think its an awesome idea
