Has anyone ever sold their car?

Has anyone ever sold their car?

My brother is interested in buying my car. I looked up the value on kelly's blue book, it says $3565. I don't know anything about cars and selling cars. I THINK it would be fair to give him a bit off the value price since he is my brother and it is an easy sale. What would be a fair offer, $3000? $2800? I have no clue. Thanks.

i would think about it this way, whether its family or anyone else, how much are you willing to get for the car? like what is your bottom line price?
if the car is worth around $3500 anyone will try to talk you down if you sell it privately, maybe down to $3200 - are you willing to accept anything lower than $3500? if not, then you have your answer, and if you are, then you can take it from there

Just because that is the Bluebook value does not mean that is the price he should offer/ the seller will get...

with anything it takes a little negotiating back and forth. I sold my car 2 years ago... Bluebook value was 6000. The guy offered me 4500 and I sold it for 5000. that was the lowest I wanted to go!

What kind of car is it? What year and mileage?

obviously, the condition of the car and the mileage play a big factor in what you will get too

I put all the info (car type, condition, mileage) into bluebook when factoring the price.

My brother offered me 1500. Bluebook says it's worth 3500. Even if people don't usually get the bluebook value, this is very low, isn't it?

is it worth selling elsewhere or getting a tax deduction for donating it?

1500 is probably what you would get on trade in at a dealership if even that its what you feel comfortable for selling it at and how much you are willing to help your brother. I have sold my car to a friend for trade in value which was 3k under blue book.

Check out Edmunds and go to 'Appraise your car'. Enter all the information on your car into this tool, and it will tell you what your car would sell for as a private party, dealer retail, and dealer trade in. The final figures you will see are based on National Average, give or take a few dollars ...

I'm in the car business, so feel free to ask me any questions if you need help ...
