I'm going there next week on a school related trip. It will be my first time in Vegas, so I'm looking forward to it. But my FH heard that the hotel is in an area that is not so safe, and now he's worried.

I live in Las Vegas. It is not in the best part of town, but it isn't really bad. It is a little bit off of the main strip. It is just an older hotel. It is more representative of old Vegas, but I wouldn't worry about safety. There are always so many people around. FM me if you need any more info.

I've never stayed there but I have gone to see a show and the people there are really nice but it's kinda old and I dont know if I would stay there. We stayed at the Las Vegas Hilton and TI. I loved TI we stayed in the petite suite it was great. All the people were great and I even had my hair done in the salon and they were alot nicer and more helpful then I expected. Our next trip DH insists on staying at the Venitian which is fine by me it's beautiful.

I've heard it's far away from the nice part of the strip. I really want to stay in one of the nicer hotels, but my college is paying for the whole trip since I'm going there to present at a convention, so I guess I shouldn't complain. While I'm there I'll keep an eye out for a nice place to stay when I go back with FH someday!

Have they made the reservations for you? Or are you given a budget? Wondering who picked the Riv...
I wouldnt stay there. Its just really old and not in a convenient location.
Just be safe, and aware of your surroundings like you normally would and dont go walking around the area. Take a cab.

The area is fine. It isn't the NICEST hotel but it isn't terrible. It is a no frills kind of hotel. I am sure you will be fine.

Exactly. I saw a comedy show there. It reminds me of the old school vegas.

The school reserved the rooms at the Riviera b/c that's where the convention will be that we are attending. So it will be convenient for that, but not for when we want to go out and have fun. Oh well, I think it will be fine. I'll tell my sweet FH not to worry so much about me!
