I was just wondering what they charge you and what your experiences with them were?

I used them. They don't charge anything, it comes out of your paycheck- you tell them what you want, and the company pays them. I used Creative Staffing, about 10 years ago.

I was placed by Hudson Global... and was not charged... I have no idea what/if my employer paid them.

i used one when i first got out of college. they don't charge anything. they're helpful and are pretty good at getting you work quickly but in general the jobs they get you are not that great. i mean it's boring stuff!
i also got my job in dc that i kept for three years through a staffing agency. it was more specific to my industry (library work) though. and they do more direct hire positions, meaning they find permanent jobs for you.

Employment agencies charge the companies that need the help. They usually charge a percentage of the salary the applicant is hired at.
So... lets say someone gets hired at 100k. They may have a 10% fee agreement with the company. Upon hiring, the company must pay the employee agency 10k. The job applicant pays nothing.
This is why recruiters always say 'they will get you the highest salary they can.' Its really true cause the higher you are signed on at, the bigger their commission.
Ive used job agencies the past three jobs. Its really one of the best ways to go (at least in my computer technical field).
