actually its similar to wedding world in commack. They also have a bunch of other vendors there, video, photo, flowers and so on...its one of those places you can get a package and book all those things over there

Have you been there? I know what dress I want, we are just going to see if we can get it cheaper in the city

WHO makes the dress maybe you can get it at RK bridal

it's Jasmine Couture... my grandmother is buying my dress and wants me to get a good deal so that she can buy everything (shoes, veil, headpiece, etc) Whne my aunt, her daughter, got married, they went there and my aunt found her dress there for like $600 less, so she is sure, that 25 years later, we will be able to find the same deal! So I am really doing it for her, lol

thanks for the info. I looked at the site before I called a few weeks ago... it's not very helpful

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE THIS DRESS!! Once I tried it on, i knew it was the one!

theres a site with bridal outlets across the country and this is the info they had for bridal building:

This is the place where many designers have their showrooms and sales offices. Here's a little secret of the bridal business: Many of these showrooms are open to the public on Saturdays and pass along big discounts.

We recently visited the non-descript office building and were impressed by the prices. When you enter the building, you're handed a list of which floors are open that Saturday (This apparently changes from week to week). Our sources say the best pickings are after the twice-yearly bridal markets in April and October. Lots of samples are available at these times.

After a crowded elevator ride, we arrived at the first open floor. We visited several showrooms and came away with the following impressions: Designers are selling not only used samples but also are taking special orders for new gowns. Discounts for samples were up to 50 percent, while special orders were 20 percent to 25 percent off. In some showrooms, the designers themselves were present, showing off their gowns to brides.

Why do the designers do this? One insider told us it's the only way the designers can keep their best salespeople happy -- the commissions from 'Saturday sales' are a big salary boost.

Service varied widely from showroom to showroom. Some showrooms included alterations in the price, while others charged exorbitant fees. One designer was charging a flat $200 fee for alterations, no matter what needed to be done.

So, is it a good deal? Yes, with some cautions. Like any self-proclaimed 'discount' option, make sure you shop around to educate yourself on quality and price. Don't forget to factor in the price of parking and tolls ($15 a trip) for not only the initial visit but also any follow-up alteration fittings.

Espo - you are amazing! thanks for the info!

Re: Has anyone ever visited the bridal building?

I've been there. Their prices are great. I bought my bridesmaids dresses from a store in there and I think it was called best bridal. Its on the 12th floor. Its a very small store. I went to RK first, found the BM dress I liked, had a bridesmaid try it on, then I went to Best Bridal and ordered it for around $100 less. They have sample wedding gowns but they order the real thing for you. I would not use their seamstress though because I feel like they don't actually have a machine to press the dress. I saw her use an iron for hte girls dresses. But hten again I'm not sure how wedding dresses get pressed.
Edited to add: When you first go into the building they're going to try to get you to fill out a registration form. Tell them you're a bridemaid going to pick up your dress and that you registered the last time you were there. Otherwise you'll get so much junk mail!

Re: Has anyone ever visited the bridal building?

I went to the bridal building and was really disappointed.

I didn't think they had a lot of selection, it isn't really a whole building, it is only 2 floors. And when we were there, only about half of each floor was open with small shops.

I will probably try to go back there to get my veil however. They had one store with only accessories - tiaras, combs, etc. and the prices were amazing. She said she could make me a simple veil for 35 bucks. Haven't ordered it yet, so I will let you girls know!
