Has Anyone Gone Dress Shopping alone?

Original post by bk309

Hi ladies,

Has anyone ever done this? It feels weird to me but my friends live far away and so does my mom so it's hard to always go dress shopping with them. I am very indecisive and I feel like I need to go to many places before I settle on something. Is it weird to go to a few spots alone?

I went alone! I didn't think I would buy anything the first day I was shopping and I have the same situation as you, my bridal party and mom all live far away so I went by myself. I ended up finding a dress I loved so I called a few friends to take a look at it before I bought it. It worked out fine!

I went dress shopping alone, and for that matter, did the majority of my wedding planning alone. My mother passed away and my BM's live far away, so I just went by myself to take care of wedding stuff by myself whenever I had the chance. FH came with me to some things, like meeting the DJ and stuff like that.
I normally don't mind shopping alone, I'm pretty independent about going places by myself. the one time I really wish I had someone with me though was when I picked out my invites. It took forever because I just couldn't make a decision!

I went alone once, It was nice (no one chattering in my ear as I'm trying to decide how I feel) but IMO I like to have a second opinion.

I went by myself the first couple of times to narrow it down then brought my sisters and mom. It was kind of nice to take my time and think about what I wanted without the peanut gallery chiming in!

Its much less stressful and you get exactly what you want. On that note, don't go to Princess Bridals in Farmingdale, that's where i got my dress and they were terrible to me there.

I went with my mom a few times, my grandmother once, my MIL once, and once by myself... I felt like the place that I went to alone didn't take me seriously becasue I was by myself. (But then again it could have just been the place).

Yes, in the end I did, the first couple of times I went shopping with one of my BM's, but when I actually selected a dress I was looking/shopping by myself. Any other time I shop for regular clothes I always go by myself, in fact I ABSOLUTELY HATE shopping with anyone else . . . I don't know why I tried to change the formula for my gown shopping.

my first time i went by myself; we hadn't yet announced we had set a date (then we got engaged lol) so no one knew. to be honest, when i put the first dress on and the veil and i was alone (except for the sales lady) i got a little sad. i felt excited that i was trying on my first bridal gown and got a little choked up, but sad because i thought that my mom should have been there with me to see it and share the moment.

i went alone today (unless u count my 6 yr old daughter) i enjoyed it. the sales lady was very VERY Helpful (smith haven mall macys demetrios bride) my only distraction was my daughter trying to convince me to let her try on some lime green flower girl dress..

i will be going with my mini me again tomorrow... no mom, no mother in law, no sister, no maid of honor..

well, I didn't try on dresses alone, but I did pick up my gown from RK (no frills service) by myself.... you have to understand how momentous of an occassion was... I bought the gown w/o every seeing it in person or trying it on... so I was anxious that it would be as pretty in person as it was online...

I was soooo happy
