HAs anyone had a 'time out' with the FI's (I'm not breaking up with FI just curious)

I was just wondering if anyone else did this....
About 4 or 5 years ago (FI and I had been dating for about 4 months or so), I broke up with FI. We were apart for over 6 months, didn't speak to eachother, weren't involved in eachother's lives. (I needed to 'find myself' and he scared me off a bit because he said he loved me very early on.)
One day I gave him a call, and we've been inseperable ever since.
Just wondering if anyone else ever had a time out over the course of your relationship, because most 'time outs' lead to permanent time out, so I feel like we beat the odds so to speak.

Yes we broke up for about 8 months from 10/00 to 7/01 and we were enaged a year and a half later!

Never.....we will be together 6 years in July' 04, and never wanted to be away from each other....
Not say there weren't times when I didn't want to strangle him, but never to the point of 'taking a break'

We have bben together since Nov 1995 and we took a break for a few months in 2000. It was all my fault. I think the break made me realize how much a loved him and it made our relatonship stronger. I was an idiot.

Same here, over 4 years now, and although there were times that I wasn't sure when we first started dating, we've been inseparable since we met!

For us, we've been together since the day we met (May 1997). We'll be going on 7 years now. Although we hit some bumps in the road, we've never 'been on a break'. However, I do believe that for some people it works and I was very happy to read all of your stories!!

We had a 'time out' too a few years before we got engaged for a few months.
Then I realized I was crazy and got back together with him. It all worked out pretty well.

We took a break just after a year of dating. We were long distance at the time - Al had moved to CA a few months after we started dating (to get his masters at Stanford).
It was too tough with him away and so preoccupied and busy. So we he came home for spring break we talked it over and decided to break up.
It didn't really stick, it just took some of the pressure off. We still regularly talked on the phone, emailed, wrote letters, etc. And the next time he came home (2 months later) we were together like we had never broken up. A few months later we started talking about me moving to CA, which I did the following summer (after two LONG years of distance).
We joke that we never officially got back together until he proposed

We broke up for 6 months a year and a half ago. I was away doing shows for a year straight and I guess that my absence did not make his heart grow fonder. We got together the night I got back and slowly started reconnecting. One year later he asked me to marry him!!!! I actually am glad that we had a break. I think it affirmed for both of us that we were meant to be together.
