My kitchen has oak cabinets that are still in good shape, I just don't care for the stain.
(I also plan to have the wallpaper and sink replaced - yuck!)
Does anyone have a recommendation for someone who can just sand and restain the cabinets? How expensive was it?
Thanks!

Re: Has anyone had their kitchen cabinets refinished?
I think Sears does it.
PS: Are you sure your cabinets are solid wood? Some cabinets have MDF or plywood boxes with solid wood doors. So while you could restain the door, you might not be able to restain the box. And since you have a door that shows the frame, that might be a problem.

I was going to get Sears in for an estimate, just didn't know if anyone had any other suggestions.
Definately solid wood. DH's parents put them in when they bought the house 30+ years ago, and I keep hearing about how expensive they were and how I'm crazy to want to change them.

Re: Has anyone had their kitchen cabinets refinished?
our kitchen cabinets were refinished by the previous owners approximately 3 years ago. because the drawers were not replaced just refinished, they are tough to open. the refinished stuff they use is just a plastic material that looks like wood. i must admit, it does look nice, but its peeling off in many places on the cabinets and drawers. we keep trying to glue it back on but it hasn't really worked. it will do for now, until we can afford to replace the entire kitchen.
