I was wondering if anyone hired a student to do the photography at your wedding! If so how did it go? We have the option for a student to do all of our work for very cheap. He has references and is just trying to build his porfolio! What do you think?

If you are satisfied with the photos you've seen, I would do it. Others might say that they don't want to take the chance, but for me, the proof is in the pudding - those being the pics that you've seen. JMHO

I had a student take photos for my e-party. As much as I was happy with the end product, I found that the student was very overwhelmed with photographing 90 people at the e-party.
I wouldn't chance it (jmo) for the wedding. I would go to a person who does wedding photography for a reasonable price.

how about trying an e-pic photoshoot and see how you and you FH like working with the student photographer and how the pics come out and then make your decision? if you end up loving them, i would def hire them for your wedding and save the big bucks for other stuff! the only drawback is, how will your actual album come out? does the student have the ability to make you a professional album?

I think it's definately worth checking out! It doesn't seem like photography is a major point for you so at least you may get professional quality photographs. I think the idea of an engagment shoot was a good idea. Hopefully he can throw it in
