Has anyone made fun of your wedding theme/ideas?

Original post by Regal Beagle

Some people are telling me 'Why are you doing a fall theme? It's not Thanksgiving'

Or things like 'pumpkins--why are you doing that???????'

Then one said , your date is too early for fall...I wanted to scream and say LOOK AT THE CALENDAR YOU BIATCH!

I mean really....is that the weirdest thing they have ever heard of??????

Give me a break! It is P&&&ing me off!
People have all sorts of weddings.

If it's not from family, it's from coworkers.

What can't people MIND THEIR DAMN BUSINESS?
Why do they care about what I am doing?

Yeah, my mother did. Nice, right? She would interrupt me when I was discussing my ideas, not even letting me finish a sentence. I did a fair amount of DIY, and she put down my wanting to do them, even though I didn't ask her for help at all.

That just the tip of the iceberg. I get pissed just thinking about the other stuff she pulled.

Maybe i'm wrong, but I think october is perfect for a fall theme! What are you gonna do, a summer theme when it's like 50 degrees out?

To try to make a long story short - I once ate at a very upscale restaurant and at the end of an elaborate meal, they gave us each a coffee cake to have for breakfast the next morning. I ate mine and FH's both in the car on the way home because they were AWESOME. Me and my sister got SO excited thinking we coudl get a recipe for coffee cakes and make them ourselves a night or 2 nights before the wedding, wrap them and give them as favors. We thought it woudl be just my style AND a fun bonding experience between bride and MOH.

My Mom first laughed, then got MAD and said ABSOLUTELY NOT - 'I will not deal with Lucy and Ethel two days before your wedding.' Then she called my grandma and made my grandma talk to each one of us and tell us what a terrible idea it was.

My sister(MOH) sometimes tries to take over planning by saying things like 'Oh are you SURE you want to give THAT out as a favor? No one is gonna use it' when I show her ideas for stuff. I think since she got married so long ago she has an itch to plan a wedding. FH and I just ignore her, lol.

My Mom can be really offensive like that in one breath, and then overly generous and supportive in the other. She and my father are giving me what I consider a very generous budget to work with. I have made them aware that I consider myself luck yand am so grateful - then the other day she breaks down and says she is sad she can't 'give me everything I want.' She said this in front of my FMIL, who completely backed me up in saying I'm getting every single thing I want and I've maintained that from the beginning and I have NEVER suggested that I can't have something. I'm starting to think my getting married is making her lose her mind a little.
