Has anyone painted a room with the Ralph Lauren Suede paint/technique?
I really one to paint one of our bedrooms with this, but wanted to know if anyone had used it before and what you thought.

Re: Has anyone painted a room with the Ralph Lauren Suede paint/technique?
I did it in my bedroom and my mother's kitchen. It's not too hard, but it is a lot of work. What I did was put on a basecoat of flat paint that matched the suede paint I was using. Then all you do it take a brush and make 'X's' on the walls. I think it needs two coats of the suede paint to cover completely and to get the 'suede-effect'.
Your arm does hurt from the X motion though after a while!
I used the Cactus Green and the Light Beige colors.
The 'sand' in the paint makes the brush very thick and it can be a pain. Just make sure you have plenty of brushes and wash them really good at night.

We did this in our bedroom and it came out great. We cheated though - we rolled on the base coat & let it dry. Then DH rolled a second coat in smaller sections and I X'd behind him to get the texture. I don't think you could tell the difference and it went so much quicker.

Great idea Christine. That would work too and MUCHHHH easier - unfortunately I was alone painting!

I did it too - well worth the work, but the walls eat up the paint!

Suede - need smooth walls
Just for some info.I did it in the house before this one and it came out great - We loved it so much that we decided to do exactly the same thing in this house however, I didn't know that it doesn't work on textured walls - we kept doing the x's over and over and when it dried - nothing.
It still looks nice but it doesn't have the suede effect.

I just asked someone about this today...and they said they researched it...and said to be careful...if you have an active household...or do it to a active room...like foyer or LR...it could crumble off...Welcome New Vendors
