I'm supposed to start this in a few days to prepare for my first (and hopefully only) IUI. I've done some reading and the side effects scare me! Has anyone taken this and what was your experience? I'm also going to have to use Crinone (progesterone) from day 20 on to lengthen my luteal phase. Anyone?

Re: Has anyone taken Clomid?
I take clomid It doesnt really have any side affects at all. Never felt anything They always have to tell you about side affects, though they are most of the time very rare.
If you look it up on the internet you can find alot of information about it. I got pregnant on it with my first IUI.. just miscarried though.. It really is a very safe drug, I got 2 opinions on it from 2 very good doctors before I started taking it. You will be fine I start it again as soon as I get my next period You can forum mail me with any questions you have
GOOD LUCK

Re: Has anyone taken Clomid?
We are going to start trying at the end of the year. I have already been told that I will need to take Clomid if I do not conceive within the first couple of months (I have PCOS and an inactive thyroid). It is good to hear from others that the side affects are not bad at all. Since I am just starting to peek over at this thread, I was eondering waht IUI stood for?

Re: Has anyone taken Clomid?
I took clomid as well, but it did not have the effect that the doctor would have liked, so I opted for injectibles (Gonal-F)this cycle.

Re: Has anyone taken Clomid?
I had a friend who took it and experienced serve pains and went to the ER. But it worked! She just gave birth to twin boys. Your doctor should work closely with you to help you understand all the risks involved. The book I read said that it can dry up cervical fluid and that is a negative thing when TTC. Good Luck.

Re: Has anyone taken Clomid?
yes michele is right, it DOES dry up your cervical muscus which makes it much harder to conceive on clomid without being inseminated. Most woman are inseminated for this reason while on clomid

Liz, have you spoken to a RE or an OBGYN? I am TTC with PCOS, and if you'd like, I'll share my experience thus far.

Re: Has anyone taken Clomid?
Liz, IUI stands for intrauterine insemination.
I'm glad to hear you didn't have any side effects Jodi. Hopefully I'll have the same experience.
Michele, my doctor said there is a higher chance of twins with Clomid!
MicheleW, are the injectibles stonger? Do they produce more follies?
Thanks and good luck to all who are TTC!!!

Re: Has anyone taken Clomid?
If you read about clomid on the internet ( I think I must of read every site they have like 100 times) they say that the chances of twins are about 5% higher than those that werent taking clomid. So thats not really that high.. but of course theres still a chance! I hope it works for you.. Keep us updated

Yes, my doctor said 5%. I figure with the kind of luck I have, I won't even come near that...lol.
I think I've hit every TTC/infertility site there could possibly be in the last year!
Keep your fingers crossed for me this month and lets all keep each other updated!!
