I didn't, thankfully. I'd cut back on anything and everything you can...you don't want that lingering over your head, especially if you are looking to buy a house soon. TRUST ME there are so many things you can cut back on and STILL look as if you didn't.

Here are a few:
Veil and tiara..go to Barron's and you can get both for under $300.00.

Invites...go to exclusivelyweddings.com and order through them...you'll pay under $2,000 easily.

Don't worry about little extras on the tables...NOONE notices really....but of course, anything extra is still a nice touch.

Flowers....don't do over-the-top arrangements. Go to Pedestals and you can get them done there for under $4,000 and STILL have an amazing presentation.

We had to take a 5k loan from Citifinancial and even with that we cut back on alot of things. We paid a good amount of $ for most of my vendors but thats because they are what makes the wedding especially my dj who we spent aloot of $$ on. but for other things, i diyed ALOT and found great deals on things like favors (edible), my veil was $30 from ebay, and i saw no point in spending thousands of $$ on a dress i was only going to wear once so I went to davids and spent less than $500. thank god too cuz that dress got fiiilthy by the end of the night, i would have been crying if it was a $5k dress.

i considered doing this but heard its not worth it! we just used our credit cards & paid it off after the wedding. maybe consider a smaller wedding or off peak month. you can also do a friday night, sat afternoon or sunday day or night. sat night are the most expensive

WOW haha, I suddenly feel cheap.

Everyone's idea of a budget is different - I agree, I would try to cut back on things before I took out a loan.

I got my invites from evenstarpaperie.com (and they were gorgeous) and I paid like $450 for 140 of them, with computer calligraphy.

I got all my CPs and bo-ks from Flower Barn in Seaford and am paying under $2k for flowers. (18 CPs, 8BM bo-ks, my bo-k and bouts)

Bargain with your vendors - if you NEED to, you can hold off a year or so on getting your albums from your photographer. . in the mean time you can order one on snapfish to show friends and family, and that will save you probably atleast $1,500. . .

I by no means skimped on my wedding, but I looked at things in terms of real dollars and not 'wedding dollars' and I think this helped us save some money. . . .

ie, 'oh, you mean getting this flower stand is ONLY another $800? Thats not too bad in the grand scheme of it all' Umm, $800 is a lot of money, and I would never just throw around money like that in everyday spending - so why do it now? If it seems overly expensive - it probably is and you can find someone to do a nice job and do it cheaper.

AND - if you need to still put another $2-3k on a credit card right before the wedding, so be it. You can pay that off with the money you get from gifts when you get back from your honeymoon, and you won't even have to worry about paying interest if you pay it on the first bill. I would probably do that before taking out a loan, but thats just me.

I really went off on tangents, sorry

Wow you really spent money....if these were the $$$ in your budget. I spent $500- on my invites & $2500- on my flowers for 15 tables & all bouqets etc.
I agree that a loan should not be taken out unless you have to because you are really going to be paying forever if you don't pay it off when you get the wedding money.

Also, to the girl that did the citifinancial loan...becareful they have very high interest rates. I did one of those about 7-8 yrs ago & it was like 23 %.

You can definitely make this money within a year if you and your FH get second jobs. You don't need to work a lot of hours either. I think the ones that ended up taking loans out did it closer to their wedding date. You still have a year, so look at other options before you take out a loan. Sell stuff on ebay or just look for another source of income. You can always go to your bank to take a personal loan. They have pretty decent interest rates.
