Re: Has anyone tasted Leonards food before?

I think I am having the hardest time ever.

I just got engaged a few weeks ago and I am planning a September 2010 wedding! YES A little over 6 months to plan.

FH and I wanted to do it for our 5 year anniversary.

So...I am scrambling to get a great RH and I cannot be picky about the dates.

well what exactly are you looking for in an RH? and what's your price range pp? My FSIL planned in 7 months no problem. You'll be fine

YES, I loved the VH. It was very thorough, had everything!! The food itself I cant remember, but I think that's a good thing- I would definitely remember if it wasn't up to par!

Re: Has anyone tasted Leonards food before?

We are looking for 130-140 ppl..under 100 pp (incl. tax). The majority of our family is in the city, so Long Island is not an option :(

We are looking at:

Villa Barone Manor
Russo's on the Bay
Leonard's of G. Neck
Marina del rey (but only have Sundays avail.)

I am not a really picky person but the RH has to be elegant and the food has to be great!

The food at Russo's is very good. I went to a wedding at Marina Del Rey and LOVED it. The cocktail hour was sooo good, and the dinner was great too.

Marina has no saturdays available. But on the bright side, they would give me any sunday in Sept.

I guess the deciding factor will be when we visit.

Thank you so much ladies!

I did not enjoy the food the one time I went to Leonards.

I just went to the food tasting at Leonard's this past weekend - it was really good! We brought both sets of parents and everyone seemed to like everything. Each person had a different favorite food they served, so I think that bodes well for the food in general. It was a cocktail hour set up for the food tasting with a taste of the filet minion entree. Besides what I tasted this weekend, I heard really good things about the food in recent years.

speaking of Leonards, their menus on their website say they dont serve shots.

is this true? are there any other places that dont?
We're getting married on my dads birthday ( He died 15 months ago) and his thing was shots of Jaeger. so we absolutely HAVE to be able to have a shot to start the night lol

I'm having my wedding at Marina Del Rey next year - their food is amazing :D

I've been to one wedding at Leonard's. The food was good but not really that memorable

Yes! The food is delish!

I tasted when I was considering booking there- they have big food tastings twice a month and they're open to anyone so bring your family and friends! Just call to find out the date of the next tasting and then show up!

My coworker just booked Villa Lombardi for August 2010 and they gave her an incredible deal. $88pp which includes tax and gratuity and they gave her the ceremony for free. Check it out.

I WISH I can do Long Island. just to far for me and my family. So I have tooo keep it Queens/Border Line LI, or the Bronx

On a second note, I would not mind doing a Sunday September 5th wedding if it means doing it at a hall with awesome food.

You can compair any of the other halls on your list to russo's they are incredible! but since you are having a small wedding you may want to look at Vetro which is a new hall owned by russos that is right down the block and they do more intimate weddings of a max like 120 people. and i think they are a little cheaper then Russos but have the same quality of food!

Lucky COuple:

When i was engaged the first time, i booked with Marina Del Rey, in Throgs Neck, and they are definately not under $100 pp. I think our pp cost was about $180

Leonard's food was just ok. the VH was spectacular. My sister got married there just this past July and I can say the food could be better.

My FH sister just got married this past June at Russo's on the Bay and they are not under $100 per person either. her pp cost was also around $175

However, Russo's on the Bay owns another restaurant/RH in Queens. Its called Villa Russo and their prices are spectacular! theydon't really have a Bridal suite and the CH and the RH are all in the same room but pp its no more than like $75 on a Saturday.

Hope this helps!

Actually, I just called Vetro's 1 week ago and the max they can hold is 90-100 people.
