Has anyone trained for a Marathon

Is 5 months enough time to get in shape if you are very dedicated.

I'm running 2 miles now, so I need to increase endurance to get to 26.2.....

I want to train for the marathon in San Francisco on 10/24/04. I'm going to meet with my personal trainer tonight to see want she suggests...

Do onto the Shape.com boards. There are tons of girls trainning for marathons and triathalons. They can give you advice!

I've run 4 marathons, each one training about 2-4 months.

You can definately do it! I trained with Suffolk's TNT and they were awesome! The long runs are the most important and they are there for you... Don't panic if you miss the smaller ones during the week.

Do it! It'll be something you won't regret!

Thanks for the tips.

I'm now chatting on shape.com as well as liweddings, humm addicting habits

DH and I decided to train for a half-marathon. My personal trainer recommended starting with a half as it is easier on your body. I have a weekly program from runnersworld.com and I'm 'thinking' about doing the Nike TNT.

My concerns with the Nike training program is making all the scheduled training runs and the $1800 minimun donation required to train with the team.

I will keep you all updated on the training progress

Thanks again,
Marcia

That's great! good luck! i have done 2
half marathons and 2 full. it's the best hard work you'll ever do! and i think that starting with a half is the best way to go. 13.1 mi. is quite an accomplishment! you're either going to hate it or love it when you're all done.
have fun with your training and definitely keep us informed!
