Has this ever happened to anyone?

I had back surgery 7 years ago...it was called a 'lumbar laminectomy.' They apparently removed part of my lamina to relieve the pressure on my herniated disk.

I just had xrays done and my new doctor told me that all of my lamina were in tact...they were never touched!!!

What did they do? cut me open and go out for lunch?

I am beside myself right now...the pain is excrusiating and I don't know what I really had done 7 years ago,...I just know it hurt like hell and it took 10 months of physical therapy 3 times a week and over 2 years to finally feel somewhat normal!

Can you call your old doctor and talk about this. There should be some kind of medical records or something where this is written down.

Funny you should post this...I was diagnosed earlier this year w/ 2 herniated discs in my neck and they are compressing nerves. I was going to consider the surgery because nothing else seems to work, but I've heard the stories about people who've had it and gone through the rehab and it hasn't made a difference. Have you still had the pain all these 7 years or has it just come back recently? Maybe they repaired them and you reinjured? Let me know what the dr says....

OMG! I am so sorry to hear that! I would ask your doctor about that and what the doctor recommends you do.

I'm planning on getting my records from the surgeon and then taking my new MRI and the records from my surgery to another specialist. The pain comes and goes...it definately feels better than it did 7 years ago, but now I have new problems since the surgery with spasms and major nerve damage. It SUCKS ROYALLY!
