Hate to fly...

Original post by nov04LIbride

I don't like to fly. I do it, but each time nearly have a panic attack during flight. I am already dreading my flight to Vegas in a week. Anyone have any suggestions for being more stress-free during flight (short of going to the doctor for tranquilizers?). Thanks.

You can take Tylenol PM and maybe that will help you to sleep during the flight.

Re: Hate to fly...

Since 9/11 I have been very scared to fly again. But honestly I will say that I am willing to try flying again with JetBlue only cuz I have heard great things about them.

I heard that every seat has it's own tv? is that true? See something like that would keep me distracted. I need distraction otherwise I will be watching all the people and thinking they are all terrorists. When I was planning my honeymoon 2 years ago I almost had a panick attack because DH wanted to go to Orlando and he only wanted to fly there. I was going to do it for him but then when we went to book our honeymoon DH and I saw the cruise brochures and we changed our minds and I was more relieved.

But try taking dramamine...

Bring a really good book, tabloid magazines, a gameboy or something like it, and a pen and paper to write letters. Bring your address book and stamps for the letters.

Also, my DH takes tranquilizers when he flies and they are not that bad. He's not totally knocked out but it takes the freak-outs away. He's still nervous, but he can deal. I wouldn't rule them out.

I've been a nervous flyer ever since flight 800. For the HM, I went to the doc and he gave me valium.... it worked pretty good and I was still able to function.

The dramamine, while helpful, only made me drowsy - not any less nervous.
